HPV positive question

Ok  I was diagnosed with HPV. I dnt know if I my partner gave it to me or if I had it before him, but I've been with him for 5 yrs. At first we used protection but not any more. I had regular pap tests done and evrything was ok until recently that the test  came back positive. Now the question is, now that I have it does that mean that we are giving it to each other back and forth? I know it sounds kind of stupid because once you have it it is there so is not like your partner is going to give it to you again. Its kind of confusing, I mean do we have to be using protection everytime? Im sure we both have it. I understand that theres sevral types of the virus and that i have one and actually I was in the process of getting the second vaccine (gardasil) when I found out I was positive. My doc advice me to go ahead and get it to prevent getting any of the other types...

I found out last year that I had HPV and I had only been with my boyfriend for a lil of 2years. When I called after having gotten the phone call from the doctor I tried to act like nohting was wrong but he could tell. So i told him I would tell him when I got to his house, and I told him everything that the doctor said about what it was, the likelyhood that I wold get cancer, and about how he had and that he  COULD give it back to me even after I had the LEEP, and he was more worried about me then him. If he really loves you it wont matter to him, but if he gets mad and doesnt want to be with you that it wasnt ment to be and you will be better off without him, and you will find someone who it wont matter that you have this.

does that mean that you can't get it from sitting on a toilet seat or using someone elses razor??  it HAS to be from sex?

Have not told him that it's actually sexually transmitted or skin to skin contact, I don't want to loose him and I'm very scared right now.

I'm in that same situation right now, I am not sure if my boyfriend gave it to me or did I have it before we got back together because we broke up and got back. I am scared to tell him it's skin to skin contact transmission.
