I had a lsh last year, brocures tell ya the average Ill tell ya how it really was

3 incions 1/2 in.
1 night in hospital you really will wish for 2.
You really have to do absolutley nothing for atleast 5 days, on day 3 I simply folded a basket of towels, did not pick up basket or anything and it set me back a few days.

advice.
1. walk walk walk day 2 after surgery, it gets rid of trapped gas\

2. plan ahead , make extra meals and freeze them line up help for house, kids etc

3. an ice pack helps a lot with pain(along with your meds) no heat because of increse risk of internal bleeding and its bad for sutures

4.sleep when you can, if your up at 2 am and sleeping at 3 in the afternoon thats ok there are no rules when recooping.

my pain was very intense after surgery they put me on a diuladid drip ( I cant take morphine) you will also have pressure hose on to prevent blood clots, dont let this scare you.

eat alot of fiber, pain meds are constipating and that first bm after surgery is a bit scary, your afraid to push at all and it hurts a stool softener is a good idea, most Drs prescibe one.

best advice of all this is the time to acceot help from others you will need it, Everyones healing time is different and of course it matters as to why your getting hyster. but I did not feel well enough to drive for 2 weeks and remember it is illegal to dive while on narcotics.

pm me if you have anyother questions good luck to both

btw its great once you are totally healed dont miss the monthly and still enjoy a normal sex life

Hey,
I just got a LSH scheduled...my doctor gave me a brochure.  This is all i know, so I would love more info as well!  Maybe someone with experience rather than a brochure/internet info.
Incisions in abdomen/navel (less than 1/4 inch)
Hospital Stay: 1 day or less (my doc said home the same day)
Recovery Time: 6 days (driving a car within 6 days- light activity within 3)

hope this helps!
