I'm so glad you went to see your Dr. You now know exactly what's going on. I do hope shaving down the scar tissue will be the answer to your problems. Please keep me up to date.
Yep, took your advice. I went to see my gastrologist. We are doing a ct scan with and without contrast tomorrow morning. If all comes back normal he well send me to surgeon becaue he said he could feel the knot by belly button.
I guess we shall see. Only thing is it would not make sense to get another surgery as that was how i developed it to begin with. However the gastro said they could shave down the adhesions. I do feel good when I am standing up or reclining.
It sounds like you need to talk to your Dr about what's going on. It may be scar tissue, that's true. It's not good that you're only able to eat one small meal a day.
I don't understand why your Dr put you on antibiotics without having the scan done first? Did she do any blood work? If so, did it show an infection?
I'm surprised no Dr ever mentioned hormones. When you have this surgery you go in to instant menopause. Did you, or have you ever had problems with sweating, mood swings, lack of sex drive?
You can ask your Dr about hormones. If you're doing well without them she may not prescribe them for you.
I hope you find out what is causing your bloating. I don't think you should still be bloated...
I had a full one as well, everything removed. I don't that I notice have the bloating, however, my lack of eating stems from everthing on the left side of my belly button area hurting when the food starts to digest...
I think due to my abdominal surgeries (1 laparotomy & 2 laproscopic) I have developed scar tissue or adhesions. I literally eat one meal a day as of right now...and it is usually tuna & crakcers or dry ceral.
Hello remar, went to the docs this morning mainly for a cough I have but told her about the bloating and shes sending me for a scan.No I,m not on any hormone therapy no one ever mention it.Will let you know how I get on.Shes put me on anti biotics so maybe they,ll work.
That's good. I was wondering if constipation could be causing the problems. I really do recommend that you get a second opinion.
Yes, some women can gain weight after the surgery. I would also recommend having some testing done. Your thyroid first of all. Some women that have this surgery develop thyroid problems. If you can see an Endo specialists for these tests that would be great because you not only need your TSH checked but FT3, FT4, and antibodies too.
Are you on hormone therapy, either prescription or natural? Even if you are you still may want to get your hormones checked. They might be low. They will for sure be low of course if you're not on any kind of hormone therapy.
Hello remar,Thanks for getting back to me.No I,m having no problems with constipation go everyday so it can,t be that. The doctor at the hospital just turned it into a joke when I said I hardly eat anything and he said he didn,t.I had all my symptomes of the change at 35 and then nothing, could an hysterectomy bring on weight gain after? I seem to be getting bigger everyday even though I excerise twice a day. Thanks
Is it just one Dr saying the bloating is nothing? Yes, some women can gain weight after this surgery, that's true. But to have bloating this long sounds like something else may be going on.
Can I ask if you're having any other symptoms, like bowel problems, constipation, any thing you can think of?
If it is just the one Dr saying this then If I were you I would get a second opinion. I had the same kind of surgery as you and bounced back very fast with no problems at all. I loved my Dr.! Of course all of us are different and will have different experiences with the same kind of surgery.
Hi thanks for getting back to me.Yes I had everything out and it was done through the tummy wall.I had to have it because of cancer but it turned out benign thank goodness so didn,t have to have any further treatment.Have been to all my follow up appointments and the doctors say everything is going well,my next one is in June. They just laughed when I talked about tummy swelling and said we all put weight on.Its making me feel I need a tummy tuck.
By full hysterectomy do you mean everything, both ovaries, tubes, cervix? Some of the women here say full when they get just the uterus removed.
You should not be having the bloating. Did this start right after your surgery? Have you talked to your Dr about what's going on? Can you say why you needed the surgery? Sorry about all of the questions. The more we know the better we can help you.
