Bulky Uterus at the age of 60 years

Sent by jackleon Mar 06, 2013
Hi, I am 60 year old woman and already completed the menopause around 8-10 years back. Recently I have done a USG where it is diagnosed with bulky uterus. It shows as follows:

It is anteverted & bulky having normal shape outline & echopattern. The midline echo is normal with normal thickness of endometrican.Uterine cavity is empty. Cervix is normal. OS is closed. No free fuid is seen in the pouch of douglas. Uterus measure 116.0 x 29.0 x 55.0 mms.

But there is no symptoms of bleeding/pain etc.  Also recently I have done all kind of test like CA125, PAP Smear etc which state that the report is normal.

But doctor said due to bulky uterus I have to remove my uterus but I am very scared of it & I donot want to do operations. Kindly suggest your opinion.

Sorry. I meant go back to your doctor if the medication she gave you does not work. Be persistent. You are the boss of your own body, to doctors we are only a number.

Thank for the comments. Yes I have seen gastrologist but he has only given an oral medicine & been told that if in emergency or if you have pain then you can take. But till now i havn't have any pain & not taken the medicine. Doctor has also given some indigestion medicine & when i got some gas problem I take that anti acid.

Till now I have not have any kind of surgery...

Have you ever seen a gastrologist? Maybe have a colonoscopy done to rule out any bowel issues. You could have an ulcer as well or reflux so I think the same doctor can test for that as well doing some tests.

Have you had any surgeries before? C-section?

Thanks a lot for your Valuable comments.

The question you have as that " Do I have nausea, bloating, gas, abdominal pain?

Yes, Some times it happens, But I think it may be of when I donot have good bowels or I have not taken proper food or on right time.

when I got gas I feel that gas is moving in my stomach & during that time I get Bloating of mild abdominal pain But I never have any Nausea. during that time if I take any anti acid medicine my stomach becomes better.

The above symptoms also happen that I donot have regular Bowels. It happens that for last 2 days I have good bowels then next day I donot have bowels.

Regarding My diabetics , it is under control as because I take oral medicine & every month blood test.

I will be waiting for your comments

Adeno is separate from the liver and Gallstones. Having a bulky uterus is probably nothing if the pain is not directly coming from there and its coming from the gallbladder and liver.

Having indigestion could be from the Gallstone that is there depending on the size could be blocking the organ’s ducts and prevent digestive bile from reaching the small intestine. Do you have nausea, bloating, gas, abdominal pain?

Do you have control of your Diabetes? Sometimes if not controlled can cause the gallstones. Being diabetic puts you at higher risk for gallstones.

The enlarged liver could be from the obstruction of the gallbladder or bile ducts.

I would talk to your doctor about this as the stone might be causing all these issues. Then if that gets taken care of you can see if you have any further pain from the uterus and if not I wouldnt worry.

I hope that helped some

I just want to ask a question that another reason to do the USG is that some times I have an indigestion problem & I feel uneasy. Also some times I get cramp in the belly as well as in the back portion and some times a mild pain but after I take anti acid medicine it go away within an hour.

But apart for that I donot have any severe pain or bleeding. In USG report its also state that apart from Bulky Uterus my Liver is little bit bigger in size & a single Gall Stone. So is it a cause of Adenomyosis or something else? Is the mild pain/Indigestion is for large liver & Gall stone? Is it something to be concerned?

But apart from Bulky Uterus, Little bit big Liver  & Gall Stone all other test report is normal. Also I want to say that I am a Diabetic but the range is little bit higher ie Fasting is 140 & PP is 220

I have stated all about my medical history & I will be eagerly waiting for replyyour

If there is no pain then no I wouldn't worry. Yes Meditation and yoga do tend to help but Adenomyosis doesnt go away. In some women this causes extreme pain with sex and heavy bleeding. Some have had to get a hysterectomy but if it isnt causing you any pain I dont feel that there is anything to worry about.

Maybe go over it with your doctor to see if he/she is concerned about it.

No There is no pain.. & nothing.. As I am older so I have done the full body checkup including The USG. But in all bloodtest & other different test all the report has came ok except in USG.In USG it shows "BULKY UTERUS" with the below highlights i.e.

So that is the reason I am scared. Is there is any meditation /yoga to get it reduced.

Hi,
A bulky uterus when all other parameters are normal and also you have no symptoms may not be of much significance. Hence you may take a second opinion regarding the matter. A D&C and hysteroscopy may be considered.
Hope this helps.
