Usually a lap hyster is when they use 4 rods, (sm) put at various points, to fill abdomen w gas, they can remove what needs to be removed through the rods, also can insert camera to see and small instrumants to preform hysterectomy

A Davinci, is a Robotic hands that dr inserts hands in to , guides instruments with more precison and expertise than his own hands could possibly do...it is state of the art, much much less problems during surgery and better recovery, and smaller scars.

I can't be sure if it is the same thing...read this "Surpassing the limits of conventional laparoscopic surgery, da Vinci is revolutionizing gynecologic surgery for women. No wonder more and more women are choosing da Vinci Surgery for their hysterectomy. In fact, since it was cleared by the FDA in 2005, surgeons have performed more than 100,000 da Vinci Hysterectomies." Ask your GYN  Hope this helps

DaVinci is state of the art..its the type I recommend. Its also the type I had...there is less bleeding(from surgery) smaller incisions. during surgery easier for doc to do very small incisions  easier cautisions.

Do some web serfing its the best.
