Hysterectomy

I had a total hysterectomy in January of 2008 because I had endometriosis everywhere.  Since that time I still feel as though I have the same pain from the endometriosis as prior to the surgery.  Also I have some bleeding after sex.  Is the bleeding something I should be concerned about?  Can endometriosis spread to other organs in your body?  I guess I'm not as educated on this as I should be.

If anyone knows please contact me.

Thanks for your help.

I also had endometriosis and scar tissue which was attacted to my bladder and had my ovaries attachted to my uterus. I only had a hysterectomy not a full hysterectomy. The doctor removed all the endo on my ovaries and left them. After the surgery I asked him if that was it or if I would get them back and he said that I could get the endo back in 5 years because the ovaries is what produces them. He also had to tack up my bladder which I ended up with a major bladder infection that took months to go away. My bladder fell again about two months after the surgery.

I guess my questions for you to is. How did you get your doctor to do a full hysterectomy? Mine blamed my age on leaving my overies but I don't want another dam surgery on my stomach.

The pain I have isnt from a UTI , it is just the bladder finding its new home since it cant rest on my uterus anymore LOL ! I live w/ a cycle of Yeast infection followed by menstral cycle and finished up w/ a uti so bad you would think I was having toxic shock . This pain it only for a sec or two after bladder is finally empty , it is getting better .

Well now almost two weeks w/o hormones . I have dried up NO MILK YAY !!!!!  But I do have hot flashes to share anyone missing thiers lol I would be happy to share ...  as for all other part I feel so GREAT plenty of drive that I am not allowed to use yet lol. I get down but thats a big norm for me . I look at it all this way I went in to surgery with a clear out look and a happy thought I have been ready for this for many many years !!! So I dont feel empty or upset or down in anyway I am very thrilled to death to be out of that kinda pain !!  My intagestion issues have stopped " no major amounts of pain pills hourly" my liver and stomic can now start getting what it needs to recover from the damage that I have done  over the years from self medicating in high doses of over the counter pills.

I remind myself when I get upset over stupid things This IS NOT how I was befor and This IS NOT how I am going to start to be! My mother was like living with a bipolor no hormone crazzy self distructive woman " she was all of that and more" Something I refuse to be and work very hard to not be that way.

OK so I have gabbed long and hard,  but I guess I should let someone else chat now !SORRY I HAVE ADHD  BAD and A bad gabbing issue LOL

Regarding the sex drive.......While I was taking Effexor & Cymbalta there was NO sex drive.  I quit taking them for that very reason. I didn't think the help with the menopause symptoms was worth the side effects.  I had heard that flaxseed might help with the menopuse. Has anyone tried that?

strange, but ya know what since I had my BSO 1 1/2 week ago, I find my self wanting sex too, I only have to wait 3 weeks cause uterus was removed last year. My hormones are a mess, but my body never seems to respond to anything like normal. I am having night sweats, not sleeping but feeling really happy and horny how weird is that???ahh well , may I ask what the natural hormone you bought is called and are you happy with it? I need something for these sweats i hate it. Be careful with the painful urination sounds like a uti, Cherie

I tell yeah I cant wait until my six weeks is up call me crazzy but my sex drive seems higher than before . My endo was so bad I was in perimenopausal state . Not to mention my cervix was fused and my uterus was enlarged . At that time I wanted to have sex but I didnt want the pain and vomiting that come with it . I feel great for the most part gas is finally working its way out bloat is down to a minimum . I have been taking a natural female hormone balancer that I got at a health food store . After the Cenestin causing me to have milk at the lowest dose . I am just waiting for them to dry up again before I go trying something else gerrrr . I have a large numb area on one thigh , might need to be adjusted to fix that . The nerves in my mommy tummy area is getting better the sun burn feeling is less . However it hurts like you know what right after urinating  OUCH but only for a few secs ...

I had a complete hysterectomy July of this year and I'm going without hormones because of my history of strokes. Not being able to take the estrogen I went into a bad depression. The doctor put me on anti-depressants and I feel normal again I guess, not depressed. Might help the wait for the estogen. My question is, when does the sex drive come back if ever?

This site will show you what I was saying about estrogen causing endo to grow . How ever I havent looked for the info I had on waiting 4-6 months before adding back estrogen to allow the areas that the endo was removed and the endo that was missed time to dry up so to speek . I will go look for it now and when I find it I will give you the link to it as well . My mother , aunt , Great aunt, her Identical twin " my grandmother" and Myself have all gone threw this and this has been the answer to our issues . This is us and not you however . My female organs was one fused ball and was attaced to my pelvic area . Doc had to clean up a few other organs but not even close to my mothers . She had endo all over to the point her breath stunk because of how much internal bleeding she had going on from the fibroid tissues .  None of my family have had regrowth and all of them waited 6 months for thier estrogen . I questioned my doc about it and he agreed . again all of this info is just from what My family has delt w/ and from what I have read over the past  19 years .

I hope this helps

Thanks for the info.  That is the first time  heard about the 4-6 months waiting. My surgery was July 2007 (not 2008) as stated. I'll have to mention that to my Dr next appt.

I also had endo. and all the probs that come along w/ it.  Estrogen WILL allow the endo to regrow if you dont wait 4-6 months after a hysto . So your doc is right by asking you to wait , however I do know how you feel as to hot flashes and night sweats . There are natural female balancers that can help and do work . If there was any endo bigger than microscopic size not removed because it was hiding from the surgens then it will cont. to grow if the body is producing Estrogen.
All info above is my opinion based on my findings , research and family issues w/ endo.

My issues is lactating from Cenestin 1.25 mg all the way down to .3 mg   I cant use a patch due to allergic reactions to the glue on the patches . Funny part is w/o hormones I have NO hot flashes , night sweats , milk, or anything . But if I am on them I have all of the above and then some .  TAH Aug. 11th 2008

Sorry for miss spelled word

I've been searching for hours looking for someone with simliar problems. Hopefully we can compare notes.  I had a total hysterectomy July 2008.  I am 56 yrs old. It was thought I had ovarian cancer but the post op tissue testing was shown to be advanced & extreme endometreosis. I never had any pain or period problems. So I was put in "surgical menopause" overnight. I have never had any bleeding so I do think you should talk with your doctor about that.  My main problem is controling hot flashes and night sweats.  I've tried 3 different non HRT prescriptions (clonidin, Effexor, Cymbalta) and the side-effects are not worth the relief from the symptons.  Has your doctor said anything about going on estrogen replacement?  Mine is reluctant because she said it could cause endo to re-occur elsewhere in my body. are you having any menopause symptoms?
