should I feel like I'm not being taken seriously when my next appointment is 6 weeks away

I have been having pain for about 3 weeks and I went to see the doctor's assistant and she recommended a ultrsound stat. I had it two hours after seeing her. This is what the report said.

US PELVIC & TVAG, COMPLETE   performed on   03/07/2011 02:40 PM  Name  Result  Ref Range
COMPLETE PELVIC & TVAG U/S  ACCESSION #: 5124224 - PELVIC ULTRASOUND

FINDINGS: Transabdominal and transvaginal pelvic sonography is
performed demonstrating large bulky uterus measuring approximately 13
x 8 x 9 cm. As seen on prior studies, the uterus demonstrates a
multitude of masses, which significantly distorts the uterine
architecture. Largest mass measures up to approximate diameter of 4.3
cm. The endometrium is not well visualized, but appears grossly within
normal limits at 7 mm.

Right ovary measures 2.3 x 2.2 x 2.6 cm and is not well visualized.
This demonstrates small follicle. Additional right adnexal is
structure seen abutting the uterus, measuring 5 cm in diameter, which
could represent subserosal fibroid. The left ovary is not clearly
identified with transabdominal or transvaginal technique. There is a
moderate amount of left adnexal fluid.

IMPRESSION:

1. Left ovary is not identified. There is a moderate amount of left
adnexal free pelvic fluid.

2. Large bulky uterus consistent with multiple fibroids.

3. Right ovary appears within normal limits.

R/O Ovarian cyst Intense left adnexal pain x 3 weeks, uterus enlarged inflamed painful on examination

The assistant called and said to come in and see the doctor she has a cancelation for friday the 11 th

So I went to the Dr. yesterday  3/ 11/2011 and she said she wanted to schedule a endometrium biospy  to rule out cancer before she would even consider surgery.
The biospy is scheduled for 3/25/2011 but my next appointment with her is for May 19th  (what's wrong with this picture) If I do have cancer then my surgury would be scheduled for 8 weeks out. I feel like I am dying now and it seems crazy to me that nothing would be done until July. Please tell me am I over reacting or should I find a doctor who is less busy and can give me a sooner appointments. (Also I had to ask for pain pills)

Thank you,
Jan

ps -- fibroids does not mean cancer.  Try to buck up, it might just be what the report says, a lot of fibroids and cysts.

In your shoes, I would schedule with the next available doctor in the practice and ask all of your questions.  Either that or I would insist on at least talking to your own doctor on the phone, and tell her how scared this is making all of you and ask some of the questions.  It might be that the gap between the 25th and the 19th of May is because that is how long the lab work takes and these issues don't change very fast in the body.  I do think that if she thought you were in danger, she would not have been so relaxed about scheduling.  However, if she doesn't give you satisfactory answers about this, I wouldn't hesitate to see a different doctor and have your records shifted over there.
