Will the DR give me a Hystorectomy ??

My mom had a lot of different problems and had to have a hystorectomy which was an emergency. Her sister told her to get a second opinion and he said she could try a partial and she did but the partial hystorectomy did not work so she had to have a full hystorectomy. She wanted that in the first place so that she did not have to go thru surgery twice.

She really wanted another child at the time and had been trying for years, she only had my older brother. So she put off the surgery knowing it could be dangerous.

She kept trying and then she got pregnant with me a month before she was set for surgery so she put off the surgery and then had it 1 month after I was born.

She said she has wanted one before but the doctors refused to give her a hystorectomy. I wonder if you tell them you are having problems why they wont give you a hystorectomy ??

The reason I ask is because I had been thinking about getting one. I don't right now because I want children one day, I don't have any....

But... I am going thru so much. I keep getting reoccuring cysts and my menstrual cycles are all messed up. I would not have a period for 6 months and then start to bleed heavily for over a month with clots...

I have not had any other test but an ultrasound which showed my cysts...

Luckily the birth control they have me on right now is doing pretty good... The other one did not work but this one is keeping me regular.

Now I have a problems with urges to use the restroom and bladder infections which wont go away... I was tested for bladder infection which shows low-infection and given meds and still have the problem and get tested again and still have the same result low-infection....

I keep telling the DR that every time I get tested it is low, I am given more meds which it wont go away.. How weird is that... I have urinary incontinence too...

I think I need to see a urologist maybe..... ??

Also showed some sugar in my urine...

I mean for the past few months every time I use the restroom it lighly burns but usually come out in normal amounts but 1-2 times a week it is just a little that comes out...

So it seems normal, but also abnormal.. I guess thus having low-grade infection results...

I told my mom that I am tired of this and just want to have a hystorectomy... But she sais they would not give me one...

I dunno why ??

My mom has told me what a difference it made with her... No more bladder infections, no more periods, no pain, etc....

So I really need it bad..... Again I have to decide if not having children is something I can do, I don't think I can because I want children one day.

I have a specialist with a urologist in a week it is one of the longest appts I have to wait for. I don't eat much meat but feel fatigue and weeker when I don't.. I very rarely eat red meat, steak once in awhile and hamburger seldomly, pork very very rarely.. I don't eat breakfast much, besides cereal ALL the time.. LOVE cereal so don't cook or eat pork.. Once in a blue moon, maybe once a year or less will stop and get a sausage biscuit or a steak biscuit/ chicken biscuit from mcdonalds.. I don't eat much fish unfortunately but my BIG meat I eat is chicken. I take a multivitamin also... and other vitamins but still eat meat as it helps me feel better... I just heard from like five vegetarians got breast cancer, may coincidental ?? I dunno.. My boss was indian and she did not eat meat and got it. She was super thin, jogged and excersized daily.. I was super shocked, she was so healthy... SHe just did not eat meat....

I will talk to the urologist about all the problems I have, I hope I picked a good DR to go to and they will help me a lot... THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP!

I hope one of your appointments is with a specialist called a urologist he/she will advise if your bladder has prolapsed/ dropped down a bit..there are two ways to correct that ..they will explain..also I agree w Remar not eating meat decreases cancers risks,,red meat sits in intestines for a long time,,.,many meats have nitrates which is a cancer causing adjent.

Thanks for your help!

My mom got a hystorectomy when she was 25 right after I was born, it was an emergency.

She has been on hormones for that long.. Recently when she went to another DR he drastically reduced one of her hormones because he said it was way too high.

Since he reduced it, she is still doing the same.. No heat flashes (or whatever you call it)

So I guess the lower hormones are better I dunno ???

But thankfully she has not got cancer... She is very healthy. She is at a great weight and she takes many vitamins. She said taking all the vitamins has probable saved her life as she has taken them for over 25 years.... There were a few short times she was not taking them but most of her adult life she has taken vitamins.

I am thankful that she has not had cancer and she is just turning 50. She weighs like 125.  Her cholesterol is good too.... SHe gets checkups at least 2x per year.

I am not as healthy as her but I am trying to get healthy....

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP.. I have a lot of appointments to go to so maybe I will get some GREAT suggestions from doctors...

Maybe I wont have to get a hystorectomy... Whatever is best for me is what I will do. TY

I have never heard of anyone that does'nt eat meat being at a higher risk of cancer.
You may want to do some research on bio identical hormones for your mother. This is only my opinion and I am not a Dr but I think they're safer than Premarin.
Cherie gave you great advice, she always does. Having a hysterectomy is major surgery and you can't take it back if you ever want to have children. Take care. Remar

My mom takes Premarin also.. She has been on the hormones forever, over 20 years... One Dr lowered it and said the dr put her on a way too high med, forget the name or doce... I dunno.. She is doing good with no cancer, etc and she gets checked often...

From experiences lately I have seen a lot of people getting breast cancer from not eating meat... Lots... My boss who was indian did not believe in eating meat and got cancer but she occassionally ate fish and turkey...

Rarely....

Suzanne Sommers also...

But my aunt got it and she loved meat so who knows....

Colon cancer is stong in our family... ALL my mom's sister had a polyps and 1 died from the colon cancer... My mom was the only one who did not have the polyps...

THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP...

I did not know it was painful surgery.. I just turned 25.

My mom also told me that my bladder may have dropped, I don't know what that means but would like to get it looked at.

My mom said she had her bladder fixed a long time ago but it did not help but she had another dr and it did.... It may have kept dropping, I dunno....

I am very new at going to the DR because for a looong time I had no insurance and did not go at ALL... I even had to get birth control and the health dept but finally my grandfather gave us the money for my Ultrasound which was expensive....

Now I just got medicade/medicare... THANK GOD.. So I have a lot of appointments scheduled... I have a lot to do over the next few months which will hopefully give me answers.....

My mom has allready helped me make a lot of appointments and I am so happy about that!!!!!

Thanks so much for your help, your information was so helpful....

My mom warned me about bubble baths... I only use Summers Eve gentle care for my private areas... I won't use perfumed soap... However I think I use perfumed soap for my body in the TUB and that may be bad so I am going to start taking showers instead...

A good dr will only give you a hysterectomy as a last resort. How old are you? If you want children you need to try to avoid this surgery at all costs and from what I gather from you notes it does not sound like you need one as of now,If the birth control hormones are helping stick with that untill you want a baby. Speak with your dr though ...what is your diagnoisis? some conditions may require you to consider speeding up having a baby if you want one..

a urologist YES I would bet you have an enlarged uterus putting pressure on the bladder.

dont use perfumed soaps, bubble baths, douches or any lotions in the pelvic area. wipe front to back...drink lots of water and cranberry juice...and see a urologist asap UTI are nothing to mess with ,,especially if you spike a fever get to a urgent care if that happens.

years ago grandma and moms generations hysterectomys were given much more often then now..we have leupron and sugerys to remove just cysts or just fibroids instead of the entire reproductive system...there are many diagnosis that warrent a hyster,,but I caution you,,,its a very painful operation a very difficult recovery,,

your bladder may be prolapsed if it is thats a easy surgical fix..good luck
