Vaginal hysterectomy for fibroids

What I thought was an ovarian cyst turns out to be a fibroid, which surprised me because I had uterine artery embolization a couple of years ago due to  heavy bleeding from fibroids.  I thought the fibroid was to have disappeared but am told it is 7 cm large.  It causes pain (I guess from pressing on other organs) but not all the time.  The doctor is recommending a vaginal hysterectomy.  And I saw the posts about large weight gains that are nearly impossible to reverse, that worries me a lot.  Not sure what I should do...

My pain was controlled good.  I felt more sore than in pain.  It felt like I did 1,000 situps; that is what I compare it to.

There will be pain because it is surgery. But the good thing is that it can be very well controlled with pain meds.

I was on the side that gained alot of weight after my hyster. I had always been active and in great shape.  My weight is fine now. I wouldn't say the weight gain is "nearly impossible" to reverse, however, it will not be the easiest.  It was not fun to gain the extra weight, but I was tired of being anemic all the time and didn't want a uterus full of fibroids.  Don't base you decision solely on possible weight gain issues.  It may or may not happen in your case.

All women are different. I never gained a single pound after my surgery and neither did my mother.
As long as you keep a healthy diet and exercise after you should be fine. You will have to wait 6 weeks before you can start any kind of exercise program. Your Dr will give you the okay or not to start when you have your checkup.    Remar
