aching muscles post hysterectomy

by cupcake123, Dec 31, 2007 04:22PM
I had a hysterectomy on 12/27. Went well but have terrible aching in both legs and buttocks. Is this normal? How long does it last? What can help?

hi there, sorry to hear that your not feeling well. i had the same problem. i think the achy legs come from us putting all of our weight on them while we are walking since we hurt so bad. i had mine last July, try to stay off your feet if you can and stretch and massage your legs. i hope you feel better.

Thank you for your reply. Each day gets better and I am certain walking and much needed sleep has helped more than anything else.
Good lucky to you!

I am 35 and I had a complete hysterectomy in January 07. I went through the same things. Try to walk a short walk and then rest. it will take the full 6-8 weeks recovery time, or it did for me. every day you get more strength back. It will get better. My husband or one of my kids would rub lotion of my legs and massage them, It sure did help. Try some warm rags wrapped around them. You will feel so much better once your recovery is over. My hormones have done really well for me. What kind are you taking.  I also take celexa to help with some of the "kids getting on the nerves". I have great boys!!!! Sometimes it seems life is a little overwhelming when we are down. I will pray for a speedy recovery for you. God Bless
