weight gain after hysterectomy

I had a complete hysterectomy about 8 years ago.  I took replacement therapy after the surgery for about 5 months, but then i stop taking it.  I have gain about 60 pounds in the last 8 years.  This is the biggest i have ever been, i can eat just lettuce and not lose weight. Is there something else i can do to control my weight gain?

Get your hormones to normal levels and have your thyroid checked...even if the dr. says your thyroid is fine...it may not be...I did not gain weight after hysterectomy 11 years ago but I did take hormones all along...but 3 years ago I began to put on a little bit of weight...it ended up although I am thin and no one would guess...I am hypothyroid and for whatever reason my estrogen had plummeted ...so I now take armor thyroid and levythyroxine, rebalanced my bio-identical hrt and the weight dropped back off...

Bioidentical hormones .. that is what my wife found and it works ... she gets pellets with hormones that are formulated to make up where you are lacking due to your ovary loss. they surgically insert the pellets in her hip about once every 4 or 5 months .. only takes 15 minutes and costs about 300 dollars each visit, which she is happy to pay ... and so am I just to see her so happy

I had a complete hysterectomy for a prolapse of the bladder and bowel. The uterus and ovaries were both healthy.  Since their loss, I have constant depression and swings between despair and hyper energy, unable to sleep, bad dreams, feeling okay then back in to the abyss of mental pain and joint pain, ankle and shoulder pains, osteoporosis and weight gain. My hair has grown rough and I my skin is getting age spots and wringling.  I use progesterone creme twice a day and estridiol.  I feel that my surgeon killed me.  He just did it slowly and I will eventually die from the results of this surgery....and everybody in the medical community will call it a hip fracture from a fall.  But it all started long before this with hormone imbalance.  I would help myself if I could. No one really seems to have an answer

Wheb you deprive body of needed calories and eat things such as just lettuce you cause the body to go into a crisis mode...you will have loss of muscle as body tries to fuel self ..rather than loosing fat...key is to eat 3 squares...swith dinner with lunch eat big meal mid day..talk to your Dr about how many calories you should consume...we all need protein, veggies , anc calcium products. these can all be low cal,,,we need fiber too,

Perhaps you should read up on bio-identacals and see what your Dr thinks about trying someting new as stopping hormones obviously was not the right choice.
