Why do so many folks ask questions saying they are male, but in their profile state they are female?

It's because people don't take the time to properly fill out their profile, and I believe the default gender is male...which is why you'll see that a lot. I seldom go by the profile info, and rather what the poster is saying...for that reason.
You can always encourage the poster to change it, and complete their profile.

Hi - yes, many people may not know how to (or take the time to) make sure all the correct options are selected in their profiles. I know it can be confusing at times, but it is generally best to go by what someone says rather than what their profile reads.

Yes, it is questionable and confusing. But is it because some people don't take the time to check the right boxes and fully fill out their profile?
Because I think they may think this is a dating site of some sort, before they realize that it is a medical help site
