Dr. Santos:
Don't worry, I was able to connect with the link. Thank you very much! There's a lot of information there about it.
Thank you for your reply Dr. Santos...I really appreciated it.
So, will I be able to acquire herpes labialis when kissing whether there are outbreaks or not?
I tried checking the link you mentioned and I didn't have any success.
Thank you again:-)
Hi,
How are you? Herpes labialis, caused by herpes simplex type 1 virus, is an infection of the lips, mouth, or gums. On the other hand, herpes simplex virus type 2 causes genital herpes as well as herpes labialis. Diagnosis is made on the basis of the appearance or culture of the lesion or with viral culture, viral DNA test, or Tzanck test of the skin lesion. Antiviral medications such as acyclovir may help the symptoms go away sooner and decrease pain. However, herpes sores often recurs. Try to avoid direct contact with herpes sores and avoid triggers. Contraceptives can help reduce, but do not entirely eliminate the risk of catching herpes. This link may be helpful: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0001631/
