Does bronchitis last 6 weeks?

I have been sick since mid November with acute brohnchitis. Here it is almost January and I am no better. Deep cough with greenish phlegm, chills, fatigue, body aches. No fever at all, and have been on doxycycline and levaquin, with a cough syrup at night. I'm having a lot of chest pain when breathing. Is this still brohncitis? The doctor said my lungs were clear, but I'm not so sure. I can feel myself breathing in and out mucous.

Your symptoms are classic bronchitis. You should see the doctor again if it is longer than 3 weeks or have a fever. So since it has been longer if you have seen a doctor you may want to make sure the antibiotic is working. But I think if it was classic pneumonia you would have a fever. So they may want to switch antibiotics. But it is good that your lungs are clear. The chest pain though is a more of a sign of pneumonia. So if you haven't see the doctor in a while check in with them or get a second opinion.

p.s. did they do a culture  on the sputum?

They did not do mucous testing.  I have an appointment with pulmonary specialist this afternoon.
Yes I think it is a good idea to double check. Let me know how it goes.
