I've been very ill and my bf has penile discharge again

I'm currently having fever, sore throat, burning eyes, and I'm very sore. My bf and I have been together for 4 years and I haven't slept with anyone else . but Last year he had unprotected sex with someone else. He started having clear penile discharge for days which NEVER happened to us before their intercourse. They both got their std tests and both came out negative although the girl's results came out with a flu like virus. We didnt have intercourse for almost a year just oral .just 2 weeks ago we had unprotected sex and now he's dripping again and I'm ill. Anyone with the same experience ? Is this possibly ebv/ mono? Or some unidentified std that doesn't come with the standard tests ? Who do you think infected us? Could it be that he got something from her, transmitted it to me, and then got it back after we had sex? Thank you . Awaiting your feedback

Thank you for responding. I read up on it and wow it does sound like the case. Why has it remained in his body for such a long time though? And is the reoccurrence of his penile discharge stimulated by unprotected sex? Appreciate your time. Have a good day.
