I agree 100% with what the previous posters have said.  Go to an ER.  The swelling is not normal.  I was on Bactrim for a skin infection and got swelling too.  They said it was an allergic rx and put me on Clindamycin.

If they put you on this stuff (very strong) make sure you take a good probiotic with it to prevent getting C-Diff.

Good luck..

Yes often spider bites do turn into infections and can be MRSA. Whether it got into your blood and spine is hard to say. If you have a very high fever that would be a indication it got into your blood stream. I agree that the antibiotics are not working and you have a strain that is very drug resistant. You could potentially have an allergy to the medication as well.  If it is an infection in the the blood or elsewhere it needs to be dealt with right away. They do have antibiotics that are much stronger than doxycycline or ciprofloxacine.
Take care,

I think you need to be admitted into hospital for a few days in order to resolve this completely. Go to a hospital emergency room and tell them your story. Tell them you hurt extremely badly otherwise they might do nothing. It needs investigation for sure
