Consecutive Sleep paralysis in dreams AND in real life

by Rebecca419, May 12, 2009 10:25AM
I am a 21 year old female.  About a month or 2  ago, I started experiencing sleep paralysis *in* my dreams.
That is, I would try to wake up *in* my dream, but I would experience the sleep paralysis symptoms.  This happened 4 or 5 times until last night.

Last night while still in my dreams, I had 4 cases of this in a row- 4 separate dreams, each one at the end I was trying to wake up but was paralyzed.  In the last I remember trying to call out to my Grandpa in my dream and could barely say, "Grandpa, it's happening again!"

Today was my first  actual awake experience.  About 20 minutes ago I tried to take a nap because I've only gotten about 4-7 hours of sleep the past 3 nights or so.  I was in that sleepy stage, when suddenly I became paralyzed.  I experienced a hallucination of part of my bed shaking.  After about 10-15 seconds I was able to  move. While frightened, I tried to go back to sleep again.

However, no sooner was I starting to drift off then I experienced the paralysis again.  I decided just to get up.

I've read the possible causes, but what can I do to prevent and treat this?
