Is this IBS or some serious problem?

Hi , I am 21 years old college student. I am from Pakistan. I was having loose stool and lower back pain from last two months almost. I was ignoring it and if any day problem get worse, I would take Pepto Bismol and problem would be solved for 1-2 days. Then I had Dengue fever, I went to Doctor and explained him everything. He thought may be I am having fever because of stool so he started giving me injections of OXIDIL [Ceftriaxone 250mg] twice a day, with paracetamol and Entox-p (attapulgite 250 gm) and ciprox (ciprofloxacin) and i started feeling better and when reports of dengue fever caMe he stopped all medicine except paracetamol. Then My stool problem was also solved but  from last 3-4 days I am again having loose stool. My stool test is normal I dont have faecal blood in stool, no ova, parasites or cysts were seen in my stool. But I am still having loose stool but this time no pain in lower back but little pain and pressure in stomach. Some days I need to go to toilet for more then 6 times and some days only 2-3 times. Sometimes stool comes in very small quantity but sometimes in large quantity. My stool is yellow like a baby's stool. I ahve again started taking entox-p and ciprox but it doesn't seems to work. I am very worried, please help me. What is this? Is this just IBS or I am having other problem like cancer or HIV???

The symptoms do not sound like cancer or HIV infection, Why do you mention HIV did you have unprotected sex before this all started?  If so you may want to be tested for Hep B and if you had unprotected anal sex you may want to be checked for Hep C. These are STDs that effect the liver that may cause stomach issues and yellow stools.  Also have your gallbladder checked. If all of this checks out you may have IBS

IBS can cause yellow stools due to food moving through the intestines to fast, Back pain is not a common symptom of IBS but has been seen. Also the meds you have been on could cause the color change in your stool.

Most likely it will be related to IBS seeing you are only 21 years old

Hope this helps

Hi, Thanks for your reply. My Hepatitis A, B, C are NEGATIVE.  My ALT and AST were high but now it's getting normal. Dengue virus attacked my Liver so I am having medicine of Liver infection too. I did not have sex, I am worried about HIV because in my country HIV also spread through barber's instrument of shaving. And I had cuts during getting shaved, and few days back I had sore throat too. Doctor said it is because of vomiting. Thanks for your reply. It reduced my tension.

Talk to your doctor the liver meds or infection may be the cause of the color change in the stool.

I know this is the wrong forum but to help you here- your HIV risk is Zero from what you describe above.

Hope this helps
