Is this my IBS?

I have suffered with IBS for a couple of years, mainly suffering with diarrhea and stomach wind. But over the past couple of weeks, I have been suffering with abdominal pains which are followed by nausea. I have only vomited once but I have suffered with diarrhea a couple of times. I was also waking up during the night feeling sick. The pain and nausea seems to have subsided but I am suffering from indigestion everytime I eat something.
I visited my doctor on monday and she had a prod around and seemed to think it may have just been a gastric bug and asked for a stool sample and told me to have a spoon full of natural yogurt everday.
I'm worried that this could be something other than a bug or my IBS.

Thanks guys. I've not had my results back yet but last night had terrible rubbling tummy and flatulance and this morning I've woken up with diarrhea, so I've called the doctors again and made another appointment. Its really starting to get me down and making me miss time from university. I just hope its nothing serious =(

This happens to me quite often, when i am having a bad bout with my stomach and more recently am having a lot of heartburn it makes my stomach burn, irritated and sensitive and because of the extra acid, i suffer from feeling naueous alot as well.  I am starting to believe that alot of my stomach issues and the way i feel everyday is because of acid, too much of it, it makes me feel lousy and really is taking a toll on my intestines or lining of my stomach, i wish sometimes, someone could just open me up and look at the lining of my stomach, i think they would be surprised at what they see.

good luck, keep us informed

Hi! As an IBS'er, a few tips for ya! First, did you notice any changes in diet that led to the diarrhea/nausea? Often IBS is triggered by something that we eat, as is other problems in our digestive system. Also, did you have any type of extra stress in your life(you don't have to list it here, just rethink) As my doc. says... stress can be also be "good" things i.e. family visiting, weddings, ect. The fact that you still have "idigestion" (is this heartburn?) is a little unusual after a simple flu.

First, wait and get your doc.'s results. Also, ask if you can try OTC prilosec, or something similar to kill the indigestion for a while. If this works, and the nausea stays away, it could of simply been a strong flair up of IBS due to one of your "triggers". If it doesn't and symptoms persist, ask for a second opinion dr. and in the meantime keep a journal of all the symptoms you are having with times & dates and what you are eating and when.
good luck!
