Probiotic complex

Just this year I was diagnosed with gallstones and IBS, my GI doctor said to increase my yogurt consumption to 2 cups a day or more. So I did and the pain increased. Should I just take probiotic capsules instead? Seems a shame not to get it from real food?

Hi thanks for responding. I don't want to have my gallbladder out. My GI says there's no other way, that all other treatments are expensive and temporary??? My app with the surgeon is in March 2010. I have IBS-D and I've spent too much of the last 20 years in the bathroom. I am sorry to hear of your troubles, it's too bad that wasn't the solution for you. I have been eating fat free yogurt, I so wanted this doctor's advice to help but it's not. There's too much pain, too often.

I dont know if you have IBS-C or IBS-D, but if it is D, then although yogurt is gentle on the stomach, I cannot take it because it makes me go to the bathroom, some dairy foods that have fat in it do not help those of us that have the D, I did get my gallbladder out 17 years ago and it has been a nightmare ever since, I have to take questron lite powder twice a day to help bind me or else I will spend all my time in the bathroom, be careful if the doctor wants to remove your gallbladder, see if there is a way to get the stones blasted by laser.  Keep us posted!
