diarrhea on and off for 5 months

for the past 5 months I have had diarrhea on and off.  im 51 yrs old. female.  2 yrs ago I had had GI probs and had a Gastroscope done with no major findings.  I have been on bentyl with no results when I had the previous Gi problems, but not this time.  I have upper left abdominal pain right under my rib cage that goes between burning/bloating, to a hot poker like pain.  I have nausea, along with the diarrhea, which happens 3-4 times a day despite the fact that I am drinking water and Gatorade constantly, I feel bloated, and I don't have any appetite.  I eat but only because I know I have to, not because I want to.  I weigh 158, and I am 5' 2", a stay at home mom.  I constantly feel like there is a lump-like feeling in that abdominal area where the pain is.  the meds that I am on now are Lotrel:for bp, synthroid, ambien, topomax, fioracet, ultram, vitamin D, .  I have high Bp, arthritis, hypothyroidism, migraines, and insomnia, all controlled by meds.  not sure what my next step with my stomach problems should be

Hi soretummy.

Things for you to research and check.
1. Leaky gut syndrome (PEG urine test)
2. Gluten Intolerance and other food allergies (Dr Coca's Pulse test -free download and/or elimination diet)
3. Low thyroid function ( TSH, T4 & T3  levels within "normal" are NOT
necessarily indicative of 'normal" thyroid function- free T3 & T4, reverse T3 must be tested, also look into Dr Barnes Basal temperature test to verify
thyroid function)
4. Adrenal fatigue. Must be ruled out, because if you have adrenal fatigue,
synthroid for hypothyroidism is counter-indicated till your adrenals are addressed. It is a golden rule in hormonal balance. Putting more energy into your cells by taking synthroid, while having adrenal fatigue, could make
health matters a lot worse for you.
Visit Dr Lam's adrenal fatigue website for a very informative tutorial.
5. Have a deeper look into your meds. Some of your symptoms are possibly caused by your meds.  I did a one minute drug interaction check for you and the check resulted in seven moderate interactions between your meds.

Let me know if you need any details. Caregiver's suggestion to see an ND
would be the way to go, if your financial situation allows for this.

Please note that the above advice is not intended as a substitute for medical advice.

Love & Light
Niko

I hate to suggest smoking, however nicotine, in very small doses can sometimes stop irritable bowel syndrome. One cigarette a day will do it, or a plug of chewing tobacco. Diagnosing your complex problems over the internet is above my pay grade. You might want to try a naturopathic physician.
