what sets things off

Hey people, i'm just wondering, i suffor with ibs, and im wondering what foods should i ease of on. what foods irritate or help.

Hello, I reccommend you do trial and error with your foods. I recently got IBS and didn't exactly know what to eat until I found this website: http://www.helpforibs.com/diet/faq.asp  After looking at their list of insoluble fiber and trigger foods I started slowly testing them out. First on a full stomach then on an empty stomach. If you can't remember all of thee foods then mark them down in a journal or somewhere you can always access. I hope this helps.

STRESS!!!! Gets my stomach off and running with spasms that are SOOO painful. I use donnatal for when it gets really bad.

a good general diet is good for us all everything in moderation ,in ibs it is not so much what u eat but when u eat it and how much
it is important not to restrict your diet in ways that may affect your health in order to see improvements with your ibs learning ways to control the foods that may cause u symptoms and reducing these but not taking them out of the picture is a good coping tech ..unless it has been proved u are allergic to these foods gluten dairy etc
having smaller meals through the day is a good start, eating your foods in a relaxed manner and allowing the body to digest will all bring about an improvement think about the times your ibs has not been affecting u i bet u were in a more relaxed state of mind at the time i know for me that is the case
the body has a great ability to heal and with ibs it just needs to be retuned from all the hussle and bussle of daily stressful living which affects us all

everyone is different when it comes to ibs what works for me may have effects on you so it is learning what diet suits you most keeping a diary of this and of course making loads of mistake along the way i find now after yrs of food intolerances etc i can now eat most foods again all but wheat but taken in small portions which is better than no portions
learn to enjoy the foods that suit ..mix them up and learn new ideas on how to cook/serve them and eating will begin to be more enjoyable and painfree again
i an hungry just thinking about food now
