re: stone in the ureter lymphocytic leukemia

I have been diagnised with lymphocytic leukemia 1 year ago. Now I was told that I need an emergency operation to remove a 8mm stone from the upper part of ureter. Please advise me what to do? Thank you.

Did your doctor say if the stone is somehow associated with the leukemia or is it a completely seperate thing?  I ask because last year I was diagnosed with lymphoma and several years ago I had to have a very large stone (5-6 cm...yes, I said cm) removed from my kidney.  They called it a staghorn calculus.  I'm curious to know if this is a related thing.

I had a proceedure called a percutaneous nephrostoloithotomy.  They basically put me to sleep, then inserted a device that uses radio waves to break up the stone.  Then they used a vacuum type device to suck out the pieces.  I don't know if they will do this same type of proceedure on you since yours is in the ureter, but it took several weeks of recovery.

I wish you luck on your surgery.
