ALT and Hepatitis B

I have hepatitis B and have an abscess in my liver. My doctor is monitoring my ALT and the number was down to 80 from 200. Does that mean I have an acute hepatitis B? If my ALT would normalize does it mean I have chronic hepatitis B?

I dont know a great deal about HepB but not all with it are carriers, most clear the disease and arent affected chronically and arent carriers - there are a few that can remain carriers for life - and some of them have chronic hep - and some of them are sypmtom free. If I understand it correctly, it would be carried via blood and fecal matter of a carrier - and would have to enter your bloodstream to infect you... Im sure theres a lot written on the transmission of hep - do a google search...

Take good care of yourself, absesses can resolve - and i would guess they gave you antibiotic for that?

Thank you for responding.

I had an ultrasound and they found out that I have an abscess. I'm still in the process of coming to terms with it. I read that if I'm a carrier I am contagious and I can pass the virus through bodily fluids including saliva. Does this mean I won't be able to kiss anyone again?

Such a pity.

Downward trend in the ALT number is a good thing!  Acute would generally mean high levels and climbing even - as for you having "chronic hepB only your liver doc can make that call (with accuracy). An absess huh? that doesnt sound at all fun! How did they detect it? ultrasound? Biopsy? or ???
