Do I have liver disease?

I am a very heavy drinker. About three weeks ago I was admitted to the hospital for alcohol withdrawl. They did blood tests and they said my liver enzyms were up, not critical. Then yesterday I noticed lesions on my hands. they are small and look like red dots. I also noticed them on my arms. Then today I had a nose bleed and now I just urinated brown urine. From what I have read, these are all symptoms of a liver disorder. I have no yellowing of the skin or eyes, but I do get dizzy and feel disoriantated.....but Im not sure if that is from withdrawl from alcohol. I have no pain in the liver area, but I had some discomfort yesterday when I urinated. That discomfort isnt there today, even though I urinated dark brown. I do take a lot of Milk Thistle which are brown. Could that be it? I have also passed stool runny yellow and even green. My stools today we somewhat back to normal. I hardly ever eat, but still drink very much. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Oh and one more thing.......when I am low on money....I drink mouthwash. Yes I have a major problem.

Hello and hope you are doing well.

Understand your predicament. Alcohol  is  a  drink that  gives a  false  feeling of  self-confidence  and  mood  elevation temporarily. If  you  are  so  dependent on it, it  means that you have  a  psychological  dependence  and  has  to  be analyzed  by a  psychiatrist. If you have a  physical dependence , you  must  be  admitted  for  deaddiction  before   any psychological  treatment  is   administered.

In any case, you  must  be aware of the physical damages  to your liver  and the brain  in the long term  causing  memory loss  and  psychosis and also  impotence.

There  is  no other  way   other  than to go into a  hospital  for  deaddiction and  follow it  up  with a  psychiatrist consultation.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

Its time to stop drinking! I know this can be hard but can be done if you want to live. They can test to see how much damage has been done to your liver. Please dont hesitate to get this taken care of you will have a great support system here. Also I found out the hard way although alternative medicine is good but sometimes its not the best solution. Afterall what you buy in the healthfood stores is still processed and not the natural herb it should be in the wild. Im American Indian so i know the value of herbal medicine. I dont use it because I have so many alergic reactions to medications its safer for me to just not use it. Good luck and your in our thoughts. Let us know whats going on.

Thanks for responding. I have yet to go back to the doctor, but the red dots are going away without new ones appearing. I have yet to have another nose bleed, but there is one buise that is pretty big and not going away,.....well, completely. I have been feeling better and not drinking as much since I wrote that last post. When I was told of the high enzyms, the doctor told me they could go back to normal if I stopped drinking. Like I said, the red dots have gone away and there was (what I thought) to be a lesion on my right small finger is also healing, with no other lesions appearing. I think my drinking less is helping. I dont want to quit 'cold turkey' for fear of DTs........which I think I had once. It was terrible. I have had only two drinks todays and I feel ok. I do have an urge to drink more, but have not. I will get back to you. Btw, I do take about 3-5mgs of Milk Thistle a day, along with a vitamin. My urine was turning (what I thought to be) dark brown, but upon examining it more closely, it more like amber. This has also turned to normal since Ive stopped taking the vitamins. I did drink a lot last night, and woke up with cold sweets. Im sooooo ashamed of my situation. I never thought Id be in this position.

Hello and hope you are doing well.

The enzyme levels are elevated in liver disorders. In liver failure there is increased estrogen levels in the blood and this could cause the red dots. The cause for the raised levels needs to be determined. This is done with the help of blood tests, ultra sonogram and if need be, biopsy of liver will help to clinch the diagnosis. If you can get back to me with the diagnosis, I will be able to elaborate further.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
