GGT over 400 (non-alchol related)

Hi,

my husband has had highly elevated GGT levels of over 200 for years. they tested again recently and it's now over 400. the problem is he's neither an alcoholic nor a heavy drinker. he would drink on average 1 drink a day, if at all. right now he's completely off alcohol, till they figure out what to do with him. the doctors here are recommending a biopsy to figure out the cause.

Does anyone have any other info regarding super high GGT levels?

Many thanks for your help.

Make sure they test his ferritin levels. Hemochromatosis may cause elevated GET. Also biliary obstruction. If hemochromatosis, the answer may be as simple as donating blood 2 or 3 times a year

I do unfortunately not have an answer for you. Has he ever tested his lipoprotein (a)? I suspect high lp(a) may cause my high ggt, but I do not know.  This may be related to cardiovascular issues.
