Make the medical checkup a pretty high priority, as the quality of the rest of one's life tends to suffer when medical worries are left hanging for long. It really is worth it to get some professional help in figuring out if you have a serious problem or not. Once you have a doctor's input let us know and we will be happy to try to help translate it into layman's terms if necessary. Good luck!
Sorry for the word numbness,,,, because I cant say that it is pain.... I dont feel any pain but I can really observe that after eating, I feel something in my upper right abdomen which I can describe it as "numbness". As the day pass, the weird feeling I feel become worst. I know that all of you are not doctor and some are patient, but I am still hoping to know the cause of it.
I was planning to have a check up, but can't schedule it due to my school and sort of financial problem....
Thank you for the advice and information Cean and Dee...
GOD BLESS YOU BOTH... :)
Hi there! so sorry you are having problems. Cean is right, we are not doctors, just fellow patients trying to help each other.
I had a problem for a while, I would get really bad pain near my liver, I thought it was my liver as well. Then I found out that the liver has no nerve endings so it was the sac that surrounds the liver that was bothering me because my liver was enlarged.
I found out that part of the intestin is right up there near the liver and pain can be referred from other places.
Another member also had pain for abut a months, she was very afraid and thought that perhaps she was having liver problems. It turned out to be gas in her intestines. I have to say that gas pain can feel awful.
Cean is right about the need for a GI to help you.
If you have any other symptoms to share , please do, there are many people willing to try to help you.
Take care
Dee
Numbness is not a word I can really understand in this context. Can you describe it differently? In one sense livers are always numb, as they are not equipped with the right kind of nerve endings to register pain. Usually any discomfort that arises immediately after eating is more likely to be associated with the stomach, the gall bladder, the pancreas, or any of the ducts of those organs. Remember that we are mostly not doctors here (although occasionally doctors do very generously contribute to the forum), but are mostly just fellow patients who have worked hard educate ourselves. We can often help explain a diagnosis or a test result, but we aren't equipped to make a diagnosis. You should see a gastroenterologist for that.
