LIVER SHUT DOWN

My husband flew to Ireland a few weeks ago for a vacation with family and has been admitted into hospital.  He had cancer of the neck 8 years.  All his life he drank and smoked.  This past 2 years he hardly has a drink anymore and hasn't smoked for a while.  I am flying back May 6th to see him.

He is thinking people are trying to attack him and has now turned jaundice also there is a clot in a vein going to the liver.  How serious is this.

Well this just goes from bad to worse! Goodness! I dont know if a chest infection would cause it, I guess it could, but I do no that waste build up in the body from a malfunctioning liver can cause confusion and hallucinations. Hve you heard anything more?

It sounds like he is in a state of confusion that can accompany liver failure. You say he is jaundice and that is serious as well. Toxins build up in the system and cause these side effects. This is very serious. You need to contact his doctors and find out exactly what it is and what they are doing to help him and get a prognosis. Can you not get there any sooner? If not call the hospital and have the doctor return your call.
