Tiffiny I am very sorry to hear about your mom and I sure understand your feelings but if you are having concerns it's important you have them addressed right away in hopes of avoiding any further damage.
It sounds like your mom's never received the proper testing she needed. You need tested right away, if it is found that your liver function test results show elevated enzymes then further testing is needed (imaging- ct scan or ultra sound).
A general doctor would no longer be qualified to treat you pending your results. A doctor specializing in liver function (hepatologist) is required. Since you are having problems the sooner you seek treatment the better off you will be. Liver disease in many cases is treatable in early stages and sometimes reversible. Advanced stages are not. Again I'm sorry to hear about your loss. I wish you the best!

My name is tiffiny and I'm writing this cuz I just lost my mom of liver cancer, my mom would always say oh my liver hurts, my stomach hurts etc and she had very bad anxiety so always thought it was just pain due to that. My mom went to doctors had all different test done had high liver enzymes and was told do not drink, she stopped drinking and thought shed be fine in 3 months she passed away. my pop whom which she was so close to past away a month before her it had been a bad year, what I'm getting at is my mom went to doctors and never was told she had cancer and she didn't find out she had cancer until she had stage four liver cancer I had to take her to a hospital two hours away to get answers and by this time it was to late, my mom thought she was going to the hospital for a gallbladder problem and never came back out my mom was my rock my best friend she was only 50 when she passed not even a month ago, now I'm having issues cuz I drink and have anxiety and feel pain everywhere I think I have a problem I no I need to go to a doctor but I'm scared I won't walk out of the hospital like my mom didn't its very scary

Maybe Happimtn is right! Once you start down that road of alcoholism it's very hard to stop. It's very sad how bad we allow it to hurt us and not just our health but our mind and our loved ones!
It's been nearly 2 years for me and I have to agree sobriety is much better. See for me though, when it comes to drinking it's all or nothing. That's what makes me an alcoholic. I wont have just one or two drinks, instead I'll drink until im drunk then go to bed.
MedHelp has a forum called alcoholism. There are very helpful people that go there and offer good advice and support. I hope you will check it out and read some of the posts that are there. You will see my name there a lot cause I always have something to say! ha ha Anyways take care.

My suggestion is if you’re doing something, anything that is bad for your body, stop! Take care of your body, your only given one. My husband didn’t drink every day, generally weekends and when away with his guy friends. He is now on a liver transplant list, got his results that his liver is getting worse. His ailments have been all because he didn't take care of himself, thinking he was invincible.
When in doubt - do without! We quit drinking in our household 3 years ago, and have not regretted it one moment.
It may help with the wondering what if's. My husband has beat himself up with the indulgences he has done that has served as a demon today.
Pinkx I think your right about making yourself paranoid. I use to drink a lot and thought I could just do that forever without any problems since I always felt fine. I went to the doctor one day though for an annual physical and found out I have end stage cirrhosis. WOW! That was a pretty bad day. My point is there isn't nothing wrong with always being concerned about your health. Read as much as you need to and get to a doctor as often as you like. I think you are doing just fine though enjoying your weekends just dont let it get out of hand okay :) Take good care of you!
You need to ditch the pills entirely though.

i don't take vailum every day i take it as needed and im very aware not to take it with booze. i shall talk to my gp in jan when i go back about my concerns but i honestly don't think i drink that much because i dont crave it during the week at all. but all in all it very well could be anxxitiy causing me all these problems i know stress can do a number of things to you and your body. but thanx everybody for your answer i think im over actting a little bit and reading a little bit too much into the internet an stuff
It sounds a lot like me a while ago. When I was using and drinking everyday, I was convinced I was having a heart attack, my chest, left arm, heart pounding and blood pressure thru the roof, I would rush to the hospital, have a billion tests done and everything would be ok. This happened all the time. Dr. said it was anxiety. Today I'm 33 days clean and anxiety is long gone. You say you take Valium? Be careful with alcohol then. Take care, God bless
I understand that anxiety. But I still think it's a mistake if you're going to continue to drink given your concerns. So when you're rady to consider that, we'll be here.
Good luck to you - and be careful w/the valium too - those don't mix well with alcohol. VERY dangerous. Hope you're feeling better soon.
ive been drinking for a while every weekend its just something me n my friend do on weekend we rent movies or play board games and drink some beeer or what not we dont get ****** drunk by any means lol i think ive let my anxity get the best of me i take 5 mg vailum a day for it i was just curious i think i should stay off the internet and stop reading about liver diease and enjoy my life i was just curious but i just went threw a situwation like this an once again they found nothing wrong with me i swore ive had every blood test they could possiable doo lol
Well I think the first thing you have to try to do is BREATHE. I know, hard because you're stressed....which leads me to my next statement. You are under a lot of stress - is that why you're drinking every weekend? I hope since your concern about all of this lately, you have stopped drinking?
And keep checking in with the Dr. and let them know your symptoms as well. They'll continue to do follow-ups with you if you push them - but if everything has come back fine so far, I'm not sure why you're convinced you have any issues w/your liver? It sounds more like stress/anxiety to me - but I'm no Dr. so tell them what you're worried about and go from there.
But most importantly I have to ask again - have you stopped drinking??
I too experince anxiety pains on a regular basis, although in my chest and left arm, which often time leads me to think that I am having a heart attack, although I have had tests done on about three separate occasions whcih reflect no heart abnormalities. Strange isn't it? Inconvenient and uncomfotable to say the least.
All that being said, trust what your doctors are telling you and calmly approach this problem. I think that the majority of whats going on is anxiety. It would be beneficial for you to discuss this with a psychiatrist if it persists. As for the other symptoms, you should explore other possibilites (dont jump to the worst conclusion, although its so easy to do :) ). Allergies? Diet? Sleep? They've ruled out any abnormalities in your liver and gall bladder, and I would agree. From your description of how much you drink, it sounds like you are no different from the average person your age going out and having drinks with friends on the weekend. I promise, if YOU had cirhossis at this point, I wold have had it 10 times by now.
Hope that helps!
