Liver enlargement

I had a pyogenic liver abssess and my pus was removed by aspiration and remaining by antibiotics after culture test of pus.

My problem was diagonised after USG of upper abdomen.

Though my pus is removed and my liver size has reduced from 154 mm to 144 mm, it is still engarled.

I feel my digestive system is not very well. The MD who treated me did not go for LIver Function test, TC, DLC, ESR etc.

Will my Liver come back to normal size. Currently I am put to UScosol 300 use. Should i visit a specialist??

No my MD doctor never told me the reason why I developed this abssess..It was a pus with proteus bacteria.....Nothing more was told to me...I think you are right..My MD doctor also never asked me to go for LFT or HB, LTC, ERS etc. I will have to go to a heptologist, the only reason I was avoiding it is a heptologist is not in our city still,,Anyways thaks very much

I was wondering if you know why you developed the abscess to start with? Have you had recent liver/gallbladder surgery, or hepatitis A,B, or C? You should be having Liver function tests being done to track your progress, and if you haven't, get tested for Hepatitis C. If your liver was simply inflamed from the infection, it should reduce in size eventually (since the infection is gone) unless you have an underlying problem like cirrhosis. I hope this answers your question a little...By the way, if you can (and you haven't already), get a hepatologist. A regular MD and GI drs are okay for monitoring LFTs, but you should get better care for your liver from a liver doc...~MM
