Raised SGOT SGT

Can prolonged use of hydroxy urea or hydrea put SGOT and SGT in trouble. I am 62 yrs old female with myeloproliferative disorder (PV) and my latest blood comp. metabolic panel shows SGOT 41 SGPT 48 in IU/L also my alkaline phosphatase,S to 144 IU/L. If its fatty liver, can 2tbs olive oil daily be the culprit since upon my observation for taking oil for almost a year now place my hematocrit, hemoglobin which is like a miracle for me.

EmsDee,

Your hematocrit and hemoglobin really do not have much to do with your liver, only maybe with internal bleeding. Your enzyme profile points to a cholestatic issue, not a typical liver disease. But this shouldn't scare you since a small gallstone can also cause these numbers as well, on a temporary basis. Keep getting blood work for a year or so and the answer should present itself.
