Hi! I was reading your response to sun1313. Maybe you can enlighten me? A 1.7x1.2 cm dense liver nodule was found on ultra-sound, now they want a CT with and without contrast. I have elevated liver enzymes GGT 149, ALT 126 and AST 50. My cholesterol jumped 66 points within a year with no diet change. I do not drink, eat healthy, low fat but am overweight by 40 pounds due to 10 years of chronic insomnia. I literally live on 2 hours of sleep per day or less. I am totally exhausted. Recently my fatique level has been chonic as always, but feels "diffrent?" I have tried to find out if having elvated liver enzymes with a nodule would indicate somthing like cancer?
I will get the CT scan. I just wish I could find out why the elevated enzymes and if having a nodule in my liver has caused them to rise? Thanks for any information you can give me! Take care!
Lori
Mam you need to see a doctor.
When your ALT is twice the value of your AST it can point to hepatitis, hemochromatosis, wilson's disease, etc...
Do you have any other symptoms? Shaky hands, bronzed or dark blotched skin, enlarged liver, arthritis or any joint pain, trouble walking, heart skipping, dizziness after not eating every few hours, recent mental problems, decreased libido???
It's not likely alcohol.
From me to you-
1) Get checked for Hep A/B/C- Simple blood test
2) Get your Serum Ferritin (measure of iron store) checked- Simple blood test
3) Get a slit lamp test- Simple eye exam
There are really only about 8 or so conditions that should cause this. ALT can be raised from exercise, but I'd have those 3 things checked because I don't think exercise can elevate it that much.
Not saying you're sick, but I was in the EXACT same boat a few months ago. I found out I have hemochromatosis, and I can live a full life now that I'm being treated.
