last stage of chirohsis of the liver

Saturday my mom was in liver failure and is inthe last stage of chirohsis of the liver. Dr. told me she has 10 weeks to 2 years left to live. I know Dr.'s arent God. But would like to know what other peoples life span was when they hit this last stage? My mom is very large and getting the fluids drained about every 2 weeks. Not a canidate for liver transplant nor can she get a dueritic surgery?

just a 2nd request about what constitutes 'liver failure' or what are the symptoms that you would watch for. i'm in stage 4 of my cirrhosis and don't qualify for a transplant till my liver actually fails so was wondering what to expect. hopefully you can help. thx.

Hi,
Sorry to hear your mom is sick. You might want to post your question in the Transplant forum.
Good luck.

Why is your mom not a candidate for liver transplant?  also, how do you know when someone is in liver failure? what are the symtoms & how quickly can it hit? as far as what her life span is, i really believe that's up to God. You're right...doctors dont' know everything so with something as powerful as 'prayer', this is what I'd be looking at for her right now. Wishing you all the best, hope to hear from you soon.
