I am a 23 year old female, 5'3", 100 lbs. I do not drink alcohol and never have. I have had horizontal ridges on my fingernails for probably 10 years now. I have also had soft stools consistently for years now, which I have read could be a sign of too much fat in your stool. I notice that some type of liquid/oil comes off of the stool too, and floats in the water. The stool also sticks to the side of the toilet after I flush it away. Could these be signs that something is wrong with my liver? I have read that the fingernail ridges could be due to malabsorption. That coupled with the fatty stool makes me think my liver isn't working properly and digesting the fat as it should. I have weighed the same amount since I was 16 years old, and only gained around 20 lbs when I was pregnant.
During my pregnancy, I had Intreheptic Cholestasis of Pregnancy, which is a rare liver disorder that occurs only during pregnancy, but it went away after I gave birth.
Lately, my health doesn't seem to be that great, even though I eat well and am active. By noon I am really tired, I have been breaking out on my forehead, and I never even had acne in high school. All of these things combined make me think that it has something to do with my liver. My question is: what do I do now? I haven't been to a doctor or anything, just researched things online. Do I ask them to do certain tests? Should I go to a naturopath doctor? Internal medicine doctor? General practice doctor?
Do you think it even is my liver?
