I had i live liver transplant. One advantage is not having to wait for an organ to become available.

I'm happy to hear that you had a live liver transplant and I hope you are doing well.  My husband needs a liver transplant and I am trying to get more information on live related donor transplants as his 28 yr old son is willing to be tested to be a donor.  Can you tell me if your MELD score needs to be as high for this type of transplant as it would have to be for a cadaver transplant?
I sincerely appreciate any information you can share.  We live in Oklahoma and would have to travel to Denver for a live liver transplant (closer than Chicago or Boston, obviously).

You may want to post this under the liver transplat section.  I believe the doctor from that forum has touched on this several times and will probably be able to answer all your questions.

Good luck!
