Anti-LKM test for type 2 autoimmune hepatitis, apparently there are two kinds of this disease.
hi thanks for the reply, i did post the same thing else where too, thanks for that reply too, you have been very helpfull, i was tested negative for ANA, smooth muscle was positive but now tested neg, i have not had the anti-LKM test, what would this look into?
its odd the notes show its weak AMA and pattern unclear, i also have a history of suspected prostratitis for many years and i will be seeing a urologist in a few weeks,
i will phone for a hepatology or a gastroentologist appointment tomorrow,
what are the best tests to do next for a further diagnostic, i have also been diagnosed with fatty liver ( i was a social drinker i have totally stopped) so this will not be helping if i also have pbc. i will work hard on losing weight and keeping fit, i also am taking vit d and calcium as my bones were hurting alot and feel very weak, feel lethargic, tired all the time,
i was refered to a hepatologist but he assumed that it was the fatty liver causing the raised alt, i told him thefatty livers recent but he didnt believe me, so will go to a gastroentologist, what tests do you recommend for autoimmune hep and pbc to do next apart from livrer biopsy?
many thanks
Did you also get tested for antinuclear antibodies (ANA) and antibodies to liver and kidney microsomes (anti-LKM)?
If I am not mistaken - REMEMBER NOT A DOC, JUST ANOTHER PATIENT HERE - the antimitochondrial antibodies (AMA) test is for primary biliary cirrhosis.
High ALT levels caused by liver disease usually drop when the cause of the disease is removed or has been severely weakened.
Did you get a GI appointment?
Good luck
