Hepatitus C

Once you have been diagnosed with Hepatitus C, can it cure itself. If liver enzymes are found to be normal, does that mean this disease is cured?

Ooops, just read that it is 15 - 50% that can clear on their own. I thought it was only 15,,,,but anyhoooo, you need to get more tests as I mentioned. One of which will be a biopsy too most likely, but it doesn't hurt at all.

The tests and all of that are just annoying due to the waiting for results etc. I think that causes the most stress - at least for me,,,,but at this point I put my health on a back burner because my mothers cancer has spread to her liver and now my husband has something going on too and is going thru all sorts of tests and so I am concerned about the two of them.

Their problems have me more nervous than what I am going thru, but on the bright side, if there is one, I stopped obsessing about my own health for now and have hardly read the forums of late - which is good I guess.

So take care and read as much as you can.
Good luck,
MO

Hi,
There are some, I think 15% of females can clear on their own, but you need to go to a Gastro Doc or better yet, a Hepatologist and they will test you for a Viral Load etc.

My liver enzymes were close to being normal before I was diagnosed, and I had to insist on the test and sure enough, I had it...

So, try not to worry, but do follow up with an appointment.

Good luck,
MO

There is a doctor that swings by now and then so he maybe he could advise you, but I think he would tell you to go get further testing too.
