BRIC

Hello,
my name is Hayley, Im 19 and have been diagnosed with BRIC (benign recurrent intrahepatic cholestasis).
I am awaiting a transferral appointment with liver specalists in Kings hospital, London. However I was diagnosed with this disease in october 08 but wasnt told a great deal about it.
Could someone shed some light on my disease and tell me what to expect, what the disease will do, and possible treatment? My consultant mentioned transplant but nothing further was said.
I am having some pretty awful symptoms such as chronic itching, jaundice, extreme tiredness which is taking over my life, sickness, and very dark urine.
If you could give me any information I would be very grateful.
I will try to give you as much information as you need.
thankyou

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
BRIC is a liver disease that affects young people.  it does not always require liver transplantation as long as the symptoms can be controlled medically.  it can also be associated with conditions that affect the heart, kidneys and other organs.  I know a liver specialist at Kings named Kosh Agarwal.  Please feel free to contact him and OK to say I referred you.
