Sister diagnosed

My sister was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer in March. She is going through radiation and chemo, but she won't quit smoking or drinking(both heavily). Now she is on Oxycontin and is still in denile, for she is always 'high'. Is there anything anyone can tell me to say to her or do for her that can help me help her?

How awful and unfair for you to have to deal with this.  Unfortunately, in my experience with alcoholism, you really can not do anything to make someone stop.  Nicotine addiction is powerful too, (I still use Nicorette), and again, a person has to really, really want to stop. I'm so sorry you have to watch helplessly.  My heart goes out to you.  Please take care of yourself.  It's OK to do that.
Blessings,
