I spoke to a lyme specialist man she was dumb
Dr Google is in and accepting patients.
As far as i know elisa can give a false positive but what the hell is that
"then whats the point of an elisa?"
Igenex doesn't perform an ELISA--- just a Western Blot for that reason.
And the reasons that a person might get a + ELISA but then a neg. WB are so very complicated.
I'd send you links because I prefer that people read the 'words of experts" rather than mine but you don't like them and I'm not inclined to type it all out for you. Just don't have the time. :)
Are you proficient in the use of Google Scholar? I keyed in positive ELISA negative Western blot Lyme" and got a lot of hits.
Happy reading.
Er no my english is fine. Haha im using a touch screen all i want to know is what makes an elisa come positive and a western blot come negative then whats the point of an elisa?
Nazzy----- perhaps English is not your first language? If it isn't, you're doing pretty good---- I don't think I could do as well as you are with a language that wasn't my native language.
And that might explain why you're having difficulty understanding what others have written to you or reading articles/links.
How *** elisa came positive and western blot cums negative
it depends how long you have been infected, lyme disease hides in the tissue the longer you have it the harder it is to test + get a western blot done thru igenex google the name and get the phone # and call ask for the kit and they will send it to you them bring to your doctor fro blood draw its 200 bucks for the test they don't accept insurance its the gold standard for lyme test
good luck
"i dont want any links just an straight fwd answer"
O.K. :)
"my doctor says results are non specific."
Since none of us here are doctors I would refer you to your doctor. The best we can do is 'guess' or present articles that might answer your question from people with more authority and knowledge than we have.
Mojo said and I'll repeat:
" When you get to an LLMD you need to show the doctor a copy of both blood tests."
The best we can do, not being Dr's, is to guess. At regular labs both ELISA and Western Blot may not be very accurate. Did you get a copy of your western blot? Doctors may say its negative but if we can see what the bands say, we may be able to help more.
I am sorry, I know its very frustrating. When you get to an LLMD you need to show the doctor a copy of both blood tests.
If I was positive for ELISA, knowing what I do now, I would say, yes I have Lyme and go to an LLMD to start treatment.
