Stomach issues

Hello!

So I started having BAD diarrhea a couple weeks ago. It started out as just a one time thing I thought but it seems to be happening more and more. This is weird for me because my whole life I've suffered from chronic constipation.

The diarrhea is bad. It hits out of nowhere, I need to go right that instance. There doesn't seem to be a pattern to it and it doesn't seem to be related to food or something like that.

Thursday night I have SEVERE diarrhea when I got home from work. It was really bad, I almost went to the ER.  Friday I felt fine but NO bowel movements at all. Saturday I woke up and my gallbladder/liver ( I can't figure out which one) felt swollen and painful. If I pushed down on my stomach under my right rib cage, it hurt really bad and the pain almost felt like it was coming in contractions. It was radiating around to my back/shoulder.

So I took myself off all meds and supplements (might have been a bad idea but I don't care) thinking my liver may have been overloaded with toxins since I DON'T eliminate waste really well.  I started taking a lot of milk thistle, lemon water, apple cider vinegar and detox baths.  Today I woke up and the pain is gone. I can press on my stomach too and no pain.

So I started my abx again this morning and I just had the really bad diarrhea again. It's hard to deal with especially when I'm at work.  It hasn't happened more than once a day when it does happen.

I take probiotics, 2 pills a day a couple hours before my abx. They are 17 billion units or whatever each and are the kind you keep refrigerated.  Every few days I throw in an extra pill for good measure.

I don't know what's wrong. The diarrhea with the liver/gallbladder pain has me really concerned. My LLMD is on vacation forever it seems and there's no one else in his office to talk to. I know I can call my family doc and get things checked out, I'm just so tired of dealing with doctors.

I was just wondering if anyone ever had this happen to them? My stomach always hurt and I was always nauseas on doxy but never had this diarrhea before. When I switched to Ceftin and Zith, my stomach felt great. No pain and no nauseas. But now this diarrhea has started.

Thanks everyone.

Right now I am about a month and a half on 500 MG of Zith, and 1000MG of Ceftin.  This is after being on doxy 200 mg for 4 months.

I have taken 2 different bottles of probiotics since this diarrhea started so either BOTH could have been bad batches or it really is something with my stomach.

I am about 90% sure it was liver pain. It was in the right area and I felt it up under my right rib cage which is where the one part of the liver is.

As soon as I eat something anymore, I get pains in my stomach .

All of the side effects of most abx are that it could cause issues with the liver so who knows.

I'm just going to take a break from abx for a week and really concentrate on building up my liver and gut.

Interesting!

It does seem like doctors vacation an awful lot..  Must be nice!  You did not mention what antibiotic/medications you are on currently.

Could you have got a poor batch of probiotics, perhaps??  Refrigerated ones or not, they need to be alive to be of benefit.  However, it's really impossible to tell by looking.  The only way would be by the way you feel.  Like with you for example, being on antibiotics and getting diarrhea despite taking high doses of probiotics.

Not really sure about the liver and gallbladder pain.  Are you sure that's what it is?  Could it be a side effect?  It's odd in that you discontinued the antibiotics and the pain just went away.  I would either try some other high quality probiotics, or look into the side effects.

Good luck.  And keep us posted.

Hi,
It happened to me . It was so bad I went to the ER and then a gastroenterologist. I would go to the ER unless you have a regular doctor to go in. H

Many of us have diarrhea for months but you should be checked out.

Good luck to you. Keep us posted.
