Any suggestions for the brain fog???

I went from a near photographic memory before the tick bite to forgetting even basic things, unable to balance a checkbook even, and constant annoying brain fog. Is there any supplements I can take to help out? I have never had treatment and have had this for well over ten years, so it's a part of my everyday life and I am disabled now. The pain is bad at times, but the dang fog in my brain is what really makes this disease a pain in the neck. I space off constantly!!!

I had a tick bite about 13 years ago and had a very high fever for 15 days before receiving the medicine. I thought I was going to die from the fever. Luckily I survived and suffered from brain fog for less than a year. However,  3 years later after the recovery, I started having this unexplained brain fog for almost 9 years.  It turned my life upside down during these years.  I was unable to focus, cannot remember well, frustrated and agitated all the time, unhappy and plus other emotional turmoil. Stress and high carbohydrate (e.g. sugar, rice, flours, alcohol) intake seem to make it worst but it was not the cause.  Many supplements help to reduce the inflammation but never fix the problem. I was cured last year Summer 2013 by my new dentist. I had a serious root canal infection in the upper jaw, nearby left nasal area. After removing the nerve, cleaned up the root canal and with 2-week of antibiotic intake, all of the sudden the brain fog completely went away.  I felt I received a second chance to live my life.  After the brain fog went away, I am taking supplements to slowly recover from the damage, e.g. lost sense of smell, minor numbness on my left face and not getting enough oxygen in the brain. The supplements really helps during the recovery process but the root cause must be fixed.  I hope you will find it and the cure.  There are other brain fog causes. Here is a web site might be helpful: http://www.drlwilson.com/articles/brain_fog.htm

Talk to your doctor and dentist. You might want to get a 2nd and 3rd opinion. Good luck and best wishes.

Cave, what you think about, makes it stronger.
So lack of money, strengthens the concept of not having money.
Liking your bills, versus resenting your bills, subconsciously and over time, alters something in your belief system in a very subtle way.
The new belief is that you are now happy you are able to pay your bills, because you HAVE money to do so!
Trying hard to achieve this, always meets with conscious resistance, as our mind's judge, the Logic, will reject this notion easily!
Specially when facing financial difficulties.

I have met many of the Hay House authors in person,  and I will personally vouch, that the majority of these people are multiple times net CONTRIBUTORS to our world!

Wayne Dyer, my Mentor and Teacher for over 30 years and a good friend has helped fundraise Hunderds of Millions of Dollars  (not a typo)
for commercial-free Public Television.

Is is very easy to fall in the trap of "lack of abundance".
Our world is full of opportunity and abundant wealth and other peoples success can truly make a difference, if the fruits of their success is used in constructive ways. And poses no threat or in any way limit what we can achieve in our own lives!

But what is of even greater value to Humanity is their amazing knowledge
and ability to Teach us and Guide us to live better and more enriched lives, so we in turn can pass this invaluable gift to others.
You may listen for free to Hay House Radio online, so you can get a better "pulse" of what I'm attempting to describe here.

And again, I'm not here to impose my opinion on anyone.
You may put this information to your own testing, but be open and objective, so you are being fair to yourself. To me, it matters not,
what people do, with my advice, recommendations and ideas,
however, it does feel good when I get a message in my inbox,
someone telling me that it made a difference in their life.

Blessings!
Niko

PS.
Anyone can make make 4 million dollars and not resent their bills!
But this statement has to get reversed to work better for you.
Anyone can NOT resent their bills (or better: enjoy paying their bills! )
and make four million dollars.
Are you willing to do what it takes? It's simple but not easy!
I have enjoyed participating in this long thread.
Sorry Tonyw1966 for hijicking it. Hope you got some benefit or at least enjoyed some parts of it.

Since this thread, and others, have strayed off the main topic of Lyme disease, it's causes, it's treatments---- I'll continue on in that tradition, for a bit. I have permission to post from a blog "MyHeartSisters and from "EthicalNag" by Carolyn Thomas.

She started out one of her entries with:

“That which doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.  If you tell yourself you feel fine, you will. Don’t cry over anything that can’t cry over you.  When life hands out lemons, squeeze out a smile.”

Translation:  Blah blah blah . . ."

http://myheartsisters.org/2013/06/16/looking-for-meaning/

I had heard about Hay when I first because ill.

"In 1976, Hay wrote a small pamphlet, which soon came to be called “Heal Your Body.” It included what became her famous list: a chart of different ailments and their “probable” metaphysical causes.

For example, Hay would claim, a probable cause of Alzheimer’s disease is “a desire to leave the planet. The inability to face life as it is.”

A probable cause of “anorectal bleeding” is “anger and frustration.”

A probable cause of leprosy is “inability to handle life at all.”

By 1984, Hay had included her “Heal Your Body” list in her book “You Can Heal Your Life,” which also contained such affirmations as “it is essential that we stop worrying about money and stop resenting our bills.”

LOL I tried to stop resenting my bills but my creditors just didn't comply. Silly people.

In 2008 the NYT reported Hay and the company president made 8 million smackeroos PROFIT. That ain't Hay (grin)

I wouldn't resent my bills if I had 4 million dollars to pay them.

Anytime Mojo!

From my own personal observations, I came to realize that people who remain in the lower vibrational frequencies, rarely find resolution to their issues, until something shifts energetically in their lives, that helps them move up to a higher frequency level.

Talk about synchronicity! I just seen Louise Hay (#10  way to increase one's frequency-Heal Your LIfe!) in the dining room at the Park Hyatt in Toronto.

Awareness and paying attention to details  and how we are reacting in our environments consistently, can only help keep our vibes "in check".

Blessings!

Niko, thanks for all the information. I find it very interesting and I strongly believe in thinking outside the box and embracing anything that works for you especially In my case, with Lyme disease and co-infections being such a crap shoot, it affects everyone differently so not one protocol is going to work for everyone.

There are MANY layers Cave.
I never said this was going to be simple. lol!
This is for everyone who happens to read my post.
Please be patient. It may be very rewarding if you are able to use some of the following information

I base  EVERYTHING primarily on  Energy .
Every single breathe you take, every heart beat, every thought,
every emotion, every food you put into your mouth, every chemical in your body.... well you get the idea, it  all has to do with Energy.

David Hawkins, the author of Power vs Force, gives us a very simple scale of Energetic frequencies/vibrations in a numerical representation of attitudes and emotions,  and by using principles from kinesiology* and acupuncture, he then establishes the association of  attractor fields
with  our health and well-being.
One great tool stemming from Dr. D. Hawkins work as a healing psychiatrist, which work by the way has been driven by his own childhood spiritual experience of the Infinite Presence, is  the methodology to determine instantly the truth or falsehood of any statement or anything presented as fact!

Now, I have studied Energy Medicine extensively, an upcoming field in Health and well-being that holds the possibility to make remarkable inroads in addressing our serious medical crisis, in regards to physical, mental and emotional health.
My intention here is not to convince anyone that this is the New Big Secret, that will change you lives forever, nonetheless it did change mine lol!
No, what I posit here is to challenge yourselves outside the established
medical box, look into other possibilities, expand your knowledge, but to do this you must be open to what information you come across.
Discarding advice  prematurely as controversial, not approved by FDA, not endorsed by some government dept or whatever may not be to your own best interest!
Special interest groups, big business and politics dominate the playing
field, so it is NOT level!!!
I'm sure, dealing with Lyme Disease you have your own negative experiences  within  such a dysfunctional system.

So I hope you take some time to research some of the ideas I'm
posting here, with an open mind.

*Applied Kinesiology can be used to evaluate the vibrational frequency of foods.
Low vibrational foods include all packaged and processed. Meat, pasteurized dairy products (most contain hormones and antibiotics), cereals, grains, refined sugars, sodas, alcohol and caffeine, artificial sweeteners, and refined vegetable oils (corn, soybean and canola oils) vibrate at lower frequencies.
Natural fats like butter, olive oil, and Coconut Oil have a high vibrational lfrequency.
Coconut oil also  is Anti-viral, anti-fungal, anti-microbial, anti-bacterial and anti-parasitic and it does not become pro-inflammatory when used in cooking with heat. Source: The coconut research center website.
Table salt has a low vibration because it is an unnatural chemical manufactured from sodium chloride and chemical additives at very high temperatures. Almost every processed food contains this type of salt, many in large amounts unfortunately
Himalayan salt  and natural raw sea salt on the other hand, contain all of the 84 elements found in the body, which are connected to the crystalline structure in a harmonious state.

There are many different ways to raise your own vibrational  frequencies.
Some that I use are :
1. Proper Breathing. (normal breathing website)
2. Meditation (daily -conscious breathing meditation) -I LUV Sonia Choquette- my favorite spiritual teacher- free  video clips on YouTube
3. High vibration foods.
4. Alkaline water.
5. Chanting Mantras
6. Practicing good Karma.
7. Seeing the goodness in everyone.
8. Learning from the ones you can't (in #7) They are there to Teach you!
9. Connecting with nature.
10. Heal Your Life!!! Read the book -Louise Hay- with the same title.

By no means this is a complete list, but I just wanted to give you an idea.

Once you climb much higher, on the frequency scale, you will never look back. You lives will be changed for the better, forever, no matter what!

Cave, I'm very happy you are in remission.Truly!
A rare success story here!
Shamans, meds, prayer,placebo, whatever works.

What I posted earlier, has been my own journey and I needed to rise well above my suffering and search for something much  greater than what was then offered to me.  In this journey, I discovered healing.
Words won't do it justice. So, I will leave it as such for now.

It doesn't matter what's in front of us, besides us or behind us.
These are small matters.
What REALLY matters is what's within us!

This is not intended as a substitute for medical advice.

I might be way off topic here, however, I'm hopeful, that it will help
some(one).  It's helping me anyway lol! see #6 above.
If anyone needs more details, please let me know!

Blessings to all!
Niko

Ah, thank you, I think. :)

So I assume that you had some rather serious health issues which you decided not to try and have diagnosed or treated by the 'medical merry-go-round'.

Where does coconut oil factor into that?

>It also sounds as if you were very disillusioned by the doctors and the medical community, which many here, and certainly myself, have experienced. Some, though, have become well without sitting with the 'healers'. I had a wonderful 3-4 year remission with no shamanic help. I did have a lot of help from bicillin.

Cave, this rabbit is hard to catch, even for me.lol!
Excerpt from my reply in question:
"The fact is that I come from a similar place, NOT from Lyme disease, NOT from MS, NOT from FMS, NOT from some Psycho-neurological disorder, but a condition that I considered at the end to NOT have it diagnosed, as the medical merry-go-round, was not for me!
It was a life altering decision to disregard totally the value-or rather the lack of value to me- of a medical label."

I really don't know what I had, but deep inside me I believe underlying  whatever I had, there was a strong component of PSTD.

Love and Peace.

Do you have Lyme disease?
Have you ever had Lyme disease?

Your 'answer' to my question sent me down the rabbit hole on a scavenger hunt (to mix metaphors) and I never did find an answer. (grin)

I've been away and very busy lately, (story of my life, lol!)

Thanks for the Happy Birthday wishes in case I forgot someone.
Cave76, you answered your own question in a way, just read again my  second reply above your question.
It seems that you're doing a tremendous amount of research Cave and making some Interesting and witty comments.
And I haven't forgotten  about the coconut oil notes and references.
Most of this is in my office back home.
Eventually, I'll get to it.

tonyw1966. It all sounds so familiar.
Neuros and Psych. docs are on an imaginary high pedestal it seems.
They are considered tops in  medical hierarchy for some strange reason
something that has gotten to the heads of most.

The best thing I've done was to FIRE my Neuro.
He had been attempting to dx and treat me, based on information
from another patient file. Our names and files got mixed somehow.

So basically, after a couple confrontations-he would not take the time to look into it-I took from his assistant's desk my file (without permission),
to realize that it was not my own file, just my name was on it, but NOTHING else matched!!!

I'm one of the sanest people around (lol!) and he was probably ready to send me to a psychiatrist, for being delusional, paranoid and other stuff.
Needless to say, I fired him. He was lucky I did not report him at the time.
At the end it all turned out for the best. But that's another story.

Most doctors are actually nice people in everyday life.
I have many doctor friends who are just like the guy or  the gal next door.
Unfortunately the culture in the medical world, changes them!
The white coat syndrome, does not only apply to patients, but  to doctors
as well lol!  Patient overload, protocols, time constraints, high stress levels
and so on will do it for most MDs.

Enough said on this topic.

Best wishes to all!

Of  the multitude of doctors I have been to, I have found Neurologists and Psychiatrists to be the MOST ARROGANT KNOW IT ALLS of the lot. The most compassionate seems to be the Cardiologist and my GP.  It's likely some of that arrogance factors into their treatment scenario. If they say it's so, then it has to be that way because, dammit, they went to college all those years. What do most of them really care, as long as they keep the meter running with us guinea pigs as customers, they can keep their nice houses and cars and fancy lifestyles. So much for the Hippocratic Oath!!!

You said (and I just caught this upon rereading your post):

" For some reason it's easier for the doctors to believe I came down with all these virtually simultaneously rather than simply having Lyme's."

Bingo! Amazing isn't it? I compare it to having a shrub that's obviously got something wrong with it.

So, we prune the dying branches off. So we spray for insects. The roots are never considered----Roots = Lyme disease.

Continuing on 'all about me' (grin) I've had doctors send me to PT to get more strength back in my legs under the premise that because I sit too much (Hello??) the muscles in my legs need to be strengthened.

What they DON'T hear is that my legs got weak overnight, decades ago. Riding my horse one day, couldn't walk up stairs the next day. Or barely walk.

Oh, yeah! Leg muscles always atrophy overnight! Oh, yeah!

I understand because my bite took place over 20 years ago. My now grown children remembered it recently, I had no memory of it and honestly didn't know about Lyme back then.

I was ill but still managed to work until 2008. Then in 2011 I had a major emotional trauma happen and the Lyme came out full force. At the time I was living in a state where they don't believe in Lyme. All my blood tests were abnormal, I couldn't walk and had so much muscle weakness, I couldn't open the fridge. I had periods of blindness, in addition to pain. I was misdiagnosed with like 6 major illnesses. I kept saying write me up in a medical journal because who is going to get all these things at the same time.

I was lucky to have a nurse friend in another state who has Lyme herself and she knew I had Lyme. I had to go through painful tests like bone marrow biopsy, all because Lyme doesn't exist.

When I was ready to leave the state, I got my records from the hematologist who gave me the BMB and I told her I was going to see a Lyme doctor in FL, she said to me "Lyme is a name they give you when they don't know what is wrong with you".  Obviously, she didn't know either but that was ok.

I learned quickly that the CDC standards that were taken by the IDSA, infectious Disease Doctor Association, was in direct conflict with our association ILADS . You may want to do a google search of IDSA vs ILADS and read up on the problem. A standard labs western blot is no where near as accurate as the IgeneX labs, that LLMD's use to get the most accurate Lyme and co-infection results.

Because I waited 20 years to get treatment,  I had to have my hip replaced, the bugs love to eat cartilage, My heart and thyroid have problems, I have eyel nerve damage to name a few. I have really bad Lyme anxiety and depression.

I am sorry you had to go through the usual BS and suffer. We are here for you whenever you need to talk. I know Medicare only lets you do so much.

Officially for those who I haven't told, I was positive on the Elisa and negative on the Western Blot. However,  I had been bitten by a tick and had the bullseye rash which I told the neurologist. Still she wouldn't officially diagnose me even though I had many symptoms. I went from being about 34 years old to 75 years old in a matter of months. Well, I am almost 47 now and have had no official treatment. I take something for depression, a minor amount of narcotics for pain, and an anti-tremor medication that also helps with a heart arrhythmia that I was born with (called Wolfe Parkinson White Syndrome). I take a multi-vitamin, and that's everything. I never knew until recently that the rash I had is indicative of Lyme's Disease. I don't get this so called "modern medicine". I have had at least 7 different diagnosis of diseases or disorders. For some reason it's easier for the doctors to believe I came down with all these virtually simultaneously rather than simply having Lyme's. For all the fancy gadgets doctors have, they still seemingly don't have a clue as to many things. I am going to buy Magnesium and some of the aforementioned herbs. I remember when the bite happened thinking to myself, "I bet I get Lyme's Disease" even though I really didn't know what it was. If you all knew my history with near fatal bug bites you would know I am the perfect candidate for this damned disease. Almost bit it from a brown recluse bite and from 50 mosquito bites that triggered an allergic reaction (doctor was amazed I didn't go into anaphylactic shock. The recluse bite happened on my ankle and, being 18 and dumb as a post, I went golfing, hot tubbing and worked a very physical job while the bite got worse and worse. Eventually I couldn't even put a sock on my right foot (try driving entirely left footed sometime, it's an adventure), and had a red streak from blood poisoning going all the way up my leg. If not for my boss taking me to a hospital I likely wouldn't have gone until it was far too late. In those days I never went to doctors. After this tick bite, that sure changed. Now I can't get away from them. Maybe that's what it's really all about. Rather than simply treating Lyme's, they can string us along, sick but not dead, for years of expensive visits. I don't need a doctor to tell me what I already know, I have it and that crappy Western Blot test was given to me about two years after the bite. Like I said, I never saw doctors when I was young. It wasn't until I was almost bedridden before my family dragged me in. Then the medical mayhem began. Frustrating to say the least.

Tony, I am also on Medicare so I understand your constraints. 2 years ago I was totally bedridden and couldn't drive. If you have any skin issues at all, they will give you doxy which would be a start.

I don't have family support either. Luckily,  My fiancée put me on his insurance last year, I have his support but he has been out of the country for a year and we hopefully will see each other within a few weeks. It is very difficult.

I spend most of my time in bed now too but I am much better than 2 years ago when I had to use a walker. The LDN is the only thing that helped my energy. I was on tons of supplement but that didn't do it for me either.

We are here for you in anyway that you need. We are your support.

Thanks for the suggestions, I will look into it. Being on Medicare limits what I can and can't do and I cannot drive anymore. The tremors in my case got so bad I couldn't write my name, so I take medication to tame it. It does pop up now and then and if I was on a freeway when it hit I would be a danger to others on the road. My worst symptoms are, brain fog, pain, tremors, very noticeable changes in my personality, to the point I have had several trips to psych wards. I was completely normal before the bite. Worst of all, in my case, is the utter lack of energy. I have tried vitamins, walking, pretty much everything one can think of and I am bedridden quite often. If not for a friend of mine, I would have no help because my family is not close nor supportive. Thats what happens when your parent's get married a combined 10 times between them, makes for lots of broken homes. Anyway, thanks for the advice! Tony

I tend to agree with Wonko in general, as I share a similar opinion.
The fact is that I come from a similar place, NOT from Lyme disease, NOT from MS, NOT from FMS, NOT from some Psycho-neurological disorder, but a condition that I considered at the end to NOT have it diagnosed, as the medical merry-go-round, was not for me!
It was a life altering decision to disregard totally the value-or rather the lack of value to me- of a medical label.
So, I went back to school and studied anything related to health.
I sat with gurus, shamans, healers, professors observing and listening and also with ordinary people who overcame terminal cancer, bipolar, PTSD from severe abuse, leprosy, paralysis, to name a few.
So, armed with a better understanding of how our body, mind and soul operate in synergy, I set out to seek total balance for myself .
Having survived two horrific accidents, both being Near Death Experiences,
it seemed as if I had around me at all times an Invisible Guiding Force, so
I knew exactly what the right choice was for me.

Needless to say, it was a journey I enjoyed tremendously with the side benefit of not only getting better, but reaching a level of health that is unattainable in the minds of most people!

Prior to all this I heard the whole gamut  from doctors, how there was no cure for this suspected yxz disorder and you have to live with it and take these meds for the rest of your life, and from well intending folks whose aunt had the same thing and took this miracle herb for a few months and totally eliminated this terrible illness.

No, it's not the PHDs and Master degrees and certificates in medical sciences or biochemistry of the researcher or the one who evaluates the research who can make the difference, nor is it the poster whose unique experience may have little or no value to the sufferer, it is the SELF
who makes the greatest impact in your health.
You are by far your own Greatest Healer with your understanding of your own body and mind and the choices you  end up making in your life.
To be continued...

Company's coming!

Blessings!
Niko
