Yes, I tested pos+ for ehrlichiosis, really positive, I think that is why I am on 2 different Abx's. Doxy & Ceftin
Well, I live in PA, and visited Nantucket and Vermont right before getting sick so I could have gotten it anywhere. But I read an article last night that said that ~60% of families that live on natucket have a family member with lyme. It apparently has the highest incidence of lyme in the world, or close to it. And the records do not include people like me who go home and then get diagnosed. If anyobody out there knows more about that, I'd be interested to hear more.
Oddly enough, I've found ton of articles talking about how it is such a problem on natucket- ticks, lyme, deer and there are disputes about how to handle it- deer hunts etc. Yet, there was no info around our rental house or anywhere else I saw warning to beware of ticks etc. Tons of info on everything else. For some reason I did not even think of it being a problem in nantucket. My LLMD at my first visit asked if I had visited anywhere (no other doc even asked I might add), and I said yes, nantucket and vermont. She stopped dead in her tracks. And I thought to myself, ok, vermont I guess. Then she said, Nantucket is a tick haven. My sister won the trip to nantucket at an auction, though it may not have turned out to be so free LOL But who knows where I got it. It could just as easy be right here at my house. We live across the street from a state park.
Just a heads up for anyone that visits the cape, martha's vineyard, and/or nantucket. They really need to educate their visitors more about it, well I guess that applies everywhere really.
Aching hands? Yes; worse at first, before treatment. Aches and pains and twitches come and go at random in various places. Never a dull moment with Lyme & Co.
Were you tested for co-infections also? I agree with your comment that two weeks' abx challenge may be very soon to see a strong reaction. Others here with a better grip than I on the science part of Lyme can comment better.
Lyme is pretty much everywhere, no matter what the IDSA says. It's reported throughout the US and in Europe and the UK too. Ticks don't need passports or visas, they just love to travel and can't read maps.
