I'm not sure what's going on, but my face/eyes have been itching like crazy. Started yesterday. I have been juicing for a while and decided to add 3 cloves of garlic to my juice yesterday because my sister told me it is a good health benefit. Right after I drank it, my leg symptoms (the vibrating) went crazy and pretty much bothered me all day.
I didn't sleep well last nght because I was also having like chest pains, my leg was vibrating, my face was itching, you name it.
I don't know if this is a herx or if maybe I'm allergic to garlic (which I've been eating all my life). Has anyone ever heard of anyone complain about these similar symptoms during a herx? Jackie, I know you've heard and talked to many many people. Have you heard of simiiar complaints?
I'm feeling very tired today too. ugh
Thank you!
Carrie
1--Are you taking prescription meds? If so, read the sheet that comes from the pharmacy listing possible side effects.
2--Itching is a low level of pain, so something is irritating your nerves.
3--Medicinal effects of garlic:
"Antimicrobial properties of Allium sativum (garlic)" by J. C. Harris, S. Cottrell, S. Plummer and D. Lloyd, published in 'Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology'
Volume 57, Number 3, 282-286, DOI: 10.1007/s002530100722:
"Although garlic has been used for its medicinal properties for thousands of years, investigations into its mode of action are relatively recent. Garlic has a wide spectrum of actions; not only is it antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal and antiprotozoal, but it also has beneficial effects on the cardiovascular and immune systems. ..."
Garlic indeed has medicinal effects, and if you have Lyme (a bacterial disease) and one or more coinfections (which can be viral, fungal, and/or protozoal), then the garlic could be causing a die off (Herx) reaction, on top of that from any prescription meds you are taking.

So, you may be hitting the bugs pretty hard, and they are hitting back ... and/or are dying off and causing a traffic jam in your body.
If you are newly on antibiotics and/or other meds recommended by your doc, then you might want to back off from the garlic until you are settled into the meds routine, to avoid confusing the clinical picture by piling symptoms on symptoms.
And of course if there is something alarming going on, call your doc or think about going to urgent care or even an emergency room.
