Low-grade fevers every day: babesia?

I've been having low-grade fever for 8 days now (99.5). My normal temp. is usually 98. It starts around noon and only subsides late in the evening, around 11:00 pm. Tylenol doesn't bring it down. I am also extremely tired, have a headache, a sore throat and neck (the front of it) and an ear ache. And most my muscles are achy. Oh, and my face feels like it's burning all the time, I expect it to be bright red, but the color is normal.

Do these symptoms point to babesia? The "schedule" of my fever is what I find puzzling. I don't have it during my sleep, I don't sweat at night. I also don't have air hunger -- I used to, esp. when I was treating with abx and Mepron, 5 years ago.

Thanks in advance for your input.

Lyme won't go away by itself.  Borrow from your friends/family, and also check charities like LymeLight Foundation and LymeTAP.  Lyme will not go away like the flu.

Lyme is in the same bacterial family as syphilis.  It doesn't go away without treatment either, and its results can be terrible.  Sorry to be blunt, but that's just how it is from everything I have read.

Problem is, I have NO money at all. And yes, you did mention CanLyme in your previous comment.

Fever is finally gone, but now I have a new symptom: I have a burning sensation under my skin, all over my body. I couldn't sleep last night because of that. It's so annoying and weird!

Hit send too fast. I had a low grade fever for over 5 years. Your main question was could it be babesia. For me it was just the lyme, I realized later. I never had a fever with babesia.

You say, "I need a local Dr who would work in collaboration w/ the US LLMD, who would also write the Quebecois Rx for abx so I would not have to buy my meds in the US and spend a fortune."

If it comes to paying the higher price, consider it the best money you ever spent.

PS  I didn't mention the organization CanLyme -- I haven't looked at it for a while, but might have some useful data as well.

Bingo!  I just searched online for -- ILADS Canada -- and got some quite interesting results.  Take a look.

Have you checked with ILADS to see there are any Canadian ILADS members?

Oh, I was not talking about blood test for IGeneX -- been there, done that, spent a fortune and did not get any official positives for any infection... My diagnosis is based on clinical examination and sx.
I meant monthly blood tests done in a hospital in my city to monitor ALT, AST, etc. during treatment, you know... I need a local Dr who would work in collaboration w/ the US LLMD, who would also write the Quebecois Rx for abx so I would not have to buy my meds in the US and spend a fortune. In Quebec, I would only pay a max of about $100/month for ALL my abx.

Yeow!  you know more about Canada-and-Lyme than anyone I know!

Okay, one more wild idea:  you're not that far from the US border.  Would the order have to be written by a doc licensed in the same state as the person drawing the blood?  The analysis of the blood sample would be made at IGeneX in Calif., so the only act in Canada is the blood draw.  You know a lot more about how all that works than I do... but I seem to recall that someone I knew whose doc was in Calif got blood draws done in NY state and shipped for analysis to a lab in Calif, and the test results were then sent to the doc in Calif.  ...?  Just workin' the possibilities.  :)

I used to be CanLyme's contact person for Quebec... :-)  I don't think much has changed since. Anyway, I don't have the $900 US for a two-hour appointment with Dr. McS. And even if I did, I don't have a Dr here, in QC, willing to Rx the abx and do the monthly blood tests.

I'll try and contact some Quebecois Lymies to see how they treat their Lyme, these days.

Thanks for your support, Jackie!

Have you checked with CanLyme?  I also did a quick search and found the Lyme doc you are probably referring to.  Once diagnosed, my visits to the Lyme doc during treatment were about once a month, and if it's too far for you to drive, that's what friends are for -- taking you there!

Lyme won't just go away by itself -- so don't give up!  Someone else here reading this may have suggestions on a doc quietly practicing near you.

(And to all those in the US who want the government to take over the practice of medicine, it may sound like a good financial deal, but you pay in other ways that you won't like at all.)

The only LLMD in my area (Quebec) is in Plattsburgh, NY... I wish I could take oral abx again. They literally brought me back to life, back in 2008. I was treated non-stop for 2 years.

Sorry to hear about your doc taking off like that.  There are other Lyme docs who don't charge an arm and a leg, tho I have heard others say the prices are going crazy out there.

Antibiotics worked for me, so that is what I would do again if in need.

ozone therapy seems to have great success with lyme disease.

My local doctor "fired" me 5 years ago, because he was fearing for his license. As for my LLMD, she is in upstate NY, but I can no longer afford her, her prices are now way too high.

Are there alternative products I could take, things that don't require a prescription?

Thank you!

Greetings --

Sorry you are going through something there ...

I had babesia with Lyme some years ago, and I would not have been able to tell the symptoms of one from the other.  Everyone is different, and the mix of infections tends to confuse the presentation of symptoms.

Have you seen a doctor?  I would do so, and if your doc from 5 years ago is still around, I would book an appointment to see him/her.  If the doc is not available, I would find a new one without delay.

You've got something ... so the sooner it's addressed, the better.
