Lyme, ear ringing and TMJ?

Hi All,
I feel like Lyme keeps me constantly guessing.

I have had ear ringing for 11 weeks in one ear. It is a hissing sound. ENT says its my eustachian tube, Allergist says its my eustachian tube (was just tested for allergies and am allergic to everything seasonal). I was just diagnosed with lyme about 3 weeks ago and have been on doxy since then. I have heard ear ringing goes hand-in-hand with lyme BUT my PCP who is LLMD thinks the lyme has cause my TMJ (on the side where my ear is ringing) to flare up...hence causing the ringing.

I have a swollen lump under my left ear, as well. Could this be a swollen muscle? Caused by clenching? I just got a nightguard made about a one month ago and have been wearing it, but the ringing hasn't subsided.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

I had tmj myself. I too have a bite plate appliance that i wear. I have very very intermittent problems with ear ringing... mine only rings, buzzes or rings for a few moments and then goes away. Maybe thats why i learned to live with it.

I don't have TMJ, but have had ear ringing for a long time, with Lyme.  Mainly in one ear.  It gets louder in the afternoons, and even louder in the evening.  No idea why, but it's the least of my worries.

When I started taking Cat's Claw, I notice that whatever is stuffed up inside burbled a bit and seemed to open up some.  In me, I think it's inflammation, but haven't pursued it with the MD.

Good luck!  Let us know what you find out.
