Can someone explain why drs. still do not "believe" lyme disease exists?

I have my own ideas about why so many drs. almost scoff at the idea lyme disease is real. And i see a pattern and have my own ideas why this is so but i want to wait and see what you think before i share my thoughts.

I agree there is a money push behind pharmaceuticals, but more in the push of drugs, period. Mostly in 'mental meds' because it is easier to get away with, and not that much is know about mental disorders and their functions compared to the medical field and say 'heart disease'.

You feel sad because your dog died? Ok you need long term anti depressants. Your child isn't straight A's? He needs ADHD meds asap!
Or perhaps you have some family issue as a child, the home is dysfunctional and drives the child mad, "Oh, he needs bipolar meds, or adhd meds, or anti anxiety, or hey! maybe all 3!". I have seen that happen more than once to families in my home town. Its like "Oh, you have a knife lodged in your side, lets give you some pain meds for ever to mask the feeling of that infection." rather than doing what they should and pull the metaphorical knife out of a persons side and clean it up so it can heal properly.  Like the veterans with PTSD, they need quality therapy, not 5 different prescriptions to cover up the problem".

I see that mostly on the government insurance level, if you have good insurance and see GOOD providers, you are less likely to run into that. But this is mostly due to providers getting a kick back from the drug companies, and its normally lower end providers that need the money, so they go that route.

I don't think it has anything to do with the lyme situation. IMO

Doxy IS out of date -- at least for any Lyme infection more than a few weeks in place.  More accurately:  doxy is *ineffective* against the bacteria except in the very very early stages and has *nothing* to do with Big Pharma trying to take your wallet.

Little dogs like a treat after they do a backflip, actors like applause after a show, ... but somehow it's bad for the big pharma companies to follow a complex, long search to cure us of our miseries?  I say more power to them:  it helps the human race, and if big pharma makes a few bucks off it, so what?

Did you really turn down gifts on your birthday and dessert after finishing dinner when you were a kid?  Do you work for free now?  If so, who is supporting you?

So here are some more of my crazy thoughts. And Yes i think a lot more is going on on the micro and macro levels than lyme but i am keeping this narrow focus because lyme is what i have.
The pharma corporations aren't interested in anything that can be treated with generic meds and want always to have patents in hand before they acknowledge the "new" disease that somehow responds to their newly patented medication(s). And then---Wow! There is lyme (or whatever it is this time) and we have the "cure"---expensive but it really helps and often "cures" what you have. And it makes doxy obsolete etc.  And then of course the before and after testimonials and the "tell your dr. you want xxx" or some still say "ask" your dr. but look close at the commercials that abound on tv for "lyrica" etc. and the corps have gotten more demanding in their hypnotic wordings with "tell" and not "ask" your dr. etc......
So $$$ of course "driven" and not research or science "driven" is the game.
And $$$ of course controls the clinics and drs. who work there( to be of some help to the poor). And that money controls what researchers spend their time studying.
Does any of what i have said in my last posts make any sense to you? And what is your approach as to what can be done to change how medicine is being "sold"--- like the snake oil from the good 'ol days---to a desperate and ill-informed and sick society. Yes...ill and sick keeps them too tired and busy with health worries to do any protesting....busy working to afford the meds etc.
And if you get sick breathing the polluted air and water and food they have created for you just look---they have the help you need and you need to thank them for keeping your interests at heart! And don't "act up" you need that job!
Just a few thoughts in reply to "why the drs. don't believe in lyme (yet!).

Researchers are still finding more diseases those little suckers (HA!) are carrying and if the heating up is changing things. Cooking up some new viruses and who knows what on the micro as well the macro level? Something is certainly going on and the bat (ebola) and other blood-suckers are very similar and gaining new attention. I had helped a woman with her paper on the tick-bird relationship in the early 90's! And---vampires are popular again---the unconscious screaming at us--"Hey--something is going on and it is all related".
So yes  it is in our heads and bodies and is just one more "message" we are being sent as little warnings of what is to come as our Home heats up.
Ok.  I'll say what i think but first i gotta take care of some chores. Anybody else  got an idea. Both so far have been enlightening for me and thanks you two for your replies.

Another reason is the CDC guidelines. The Infectious Disease Doctors write the guidelines and they simply don't believe that is can stick around after 10 days on antibiotics.

So that means the thousands of us suffering,  well, it must be in our heads.
Many of us have heard that despite abnormal blood tests showing something is wrong.

Thank you Jackie and i agree about over-specialization and for some reason that thought "generalized" or expanded to include nearly every system-institution-business-organization etc.
I have something else in mind as another, and i think larger cause but i want to wait and see what others may think.
I also am wondering how many of the "pain members" on med-help (groups etc.) have been tested for lyme. Fibro...arthritis....nerve damage etc. folks.

I think the cause is over-specialization:  there is so much known and happening in the medical world that the docs each end up focusing on a narrow slice of medicine, which hampers understanding of patients as fully integrated creatures in a largely integrated biosphere.

If we were made of a bunch of self-contained modules that don't interact with all our other bodily systems and ailments (and those of all other life forms we encounter every day), then today's medical approach might work, but Mother Nature didn't design us that way.  Some diseases may be local, but many are hardy travelers when given a chance.
