Possible Lyme

I am 38 I have been very sick the last 2 months. This last we I  completely out of it and feel like death. I am set to see a RM on Tues I have extreme fatigue pain in my neck pain in both of my knees as well as ankle. I have loose bowel and upset stomach along with bad headaches. I also have started shaking in my right arm at night when I go to bed. I get alot of numbness in my body and feel like its hard to get a breath. I am also off valence alot and stumble when walking sometimes. I live in Arkansas and have had ticks on me this yr during hunting season which is around the time the symptoms started. Does this sound like Lyme and is their a certain type of test I ask for. I have looked for a LLMD in the state and not been able to find one. I was wondering if anyone had these symptoms with Lyme.

Friends of mine could not find  doctors, not LLMD's but found doctors that  did believe in Lyme enough to sign the IgeneX papers. So that is a last resort for you. Integrated medicine doctors or herbal/natural  remedy doctors are some of those that you may find easier.

My LLMD was on vacation and I needed a doctor who knew of Lyme, I called an integrated medicine doctor, they were shocked when they asked for positive test results, and I had them and mine were even CDC positive. Of course its much better to find an LLMD but as a last resort there are other doctors to try.

It's been covered already, by other posters, but first you have to find a doctor who knows about Lyme, not just one who SAYS s/he knows about Lyme and there are way too many of those!

Then s/he will order the tests for you from Igenex. They aren't inexpensive! But no other lab does as good a job at testing for Lyme or co-infections.

Most LLMDs  do not accept insurance but they WILL give you an invoice that you can then use as a claim for your insurance company. (So you may have to pay up-front at the time of appointment.)

How much will be reimbursed is strictly up to your insurance plan.

There is a very good LLMD in Missouri. Because there are some contentions about the advisability of posting a doctor's name here (by other members, not the web site) I will tell you how to find his name.

Just Google "Lyme doctor in Missouri" and his web site is at the top of the hits.

Keep  us posted, please?

You could order the tests directly through IgeneX if you can  find a doctor to draw the blood you could take the Lyme panel and also find out the Lyme co-infection tests. Most Lyme comes with co-infections which are another problem that most lymies have. An LLMD can diadgnose these Lyme -co-infection tests.

Yes those symptoms sound quite familiar of Lyme.  The testing for Lyme is tricky.  It is not very accurate and false negatives are all to common.  You would really need to find an LLMD.  There are few and far between.  Some of us have to travel, but it is worth it.  Most of us get our answers through IGenex, a specialized lab dedicated to testing for Lyme associated diseases.  However even that is not always foolproof.  LLMDs often treat based on clinical presentation and do not rely on test results..

You can go to the ILADS site and click on contact.  Then click on physician referral.  You will get a list of the closest LLMDS to you.
