Prophylactic antibiotic or not

Quick question... I woke up Sat. morning and found a deer tick on me.  I have no idea how long it was there.  It wasn't fully engorged.  I don't want to over-react to this, but I also don't want lyme disease.  I phoned the doctor's office, and was told I could come in and get prophylactic antibiotics or wait 6 six weeks and come in for testing.  Any recommendations?

Get the antibiotics ASAP.  There is much less risk, in my opinion, in taking antibiotics for a couple of weeks than waiting and wondering if you have Lyme disease.  If you kept the tick, then I would bring it with me.  Don't delay, or you could end up on these message boards like us:(  We did not have that luxury - getting antibiotics immediately.  Now, we are facing chronic illness and difficult treatment.
