Please keep in mind it is okay to share your experience and your treatment with Lyme disease, however the forum is not to be used for debates as it is easy to become sidetracked from the original question from the poster.

The only way to get a viable diagnosis is to seek a medical professional.

I can't speak for him, but if someone didn't think it was a bulls-eye rash or Lyme Disease, they wouldn't be in a Lyme Disease Forum seeking help.  I am really just glad he saw a doctor and Lyme was ruled out to be honest...

Wow! I'm glad you went to a doctor. If you would have posted on the derm forum, I'm sure Lyme wouldn't have been singled out as the likely cause. Unfortunately, it is a one track mind set here. Ring worms is a fungal infection that usually can be cured with OTC medication. I'm glad you didn't have to spend money on antibiotics or unnecessary treatment. Antibiotics will not cure ring worms. I didn't see anyone giving advice to sell all of your possessions and see an LLMD. Ring worms can be transferred through contact, so try not to scratch it during treatment. Good luck

Glad it turned out well for you.  That's why we didn't want to diagnose for you -- because we're not docs!

It was ringworm.

My doctor also said if you've had a lyme disease rash for roughly 3 weeks, like ive said ive had my rash, then youd definitely be sick(have symptoms), so thanks for the "help"

I agree with Jackie - please don't wait and spend the money to see a doctor now.  Lyme is far more expensive to treat in later stages...We are talking thousands upon thousands of dollars!

Not trying to scare you, but just inform you.

No one here is medically trained, so we can't say on the basis of photos online and your description that 'no, it's not Lyme.'

Really, you need to see a doctor, and the sooner the better.  If it's nothing, you'll find out.  If it's something, then you can get it taken care of.

If it IS Lyme, it will not go away by itself, and the longer you wait to be diagnosed and treated, the harder it is to treat.  Based on the experiences of people who post here, it can take years to be treated and to feel awful in the meantime, to the point that some of us have been unable to work for extended periods of time.

I hope you don't have Lyme, but the only way to know is to go to the doctor.  Insurance is not required to see an MD.

I want to see a doctor but I am uninsured. I waited about 4 weeks because it didn't look bad and I was unsure of it. After this long it hasnt gone away, but I havent felt any sympotoms and I was in college so I wasnt really near anything that'd have ticks. However I would like to know how long I have until this could get really bad if it is indeed what you think. Also what do you mean by struggle? How bad is this?

If you look at enough photos, you will see how different the rashes are in everyone.

Don't wait.  That's all I can say.  Every day that goes by is making it more likely you will have trouble getting rid of Lyme.  It's not like the sniffles or a bee sting.  Lyme is an insidious disease that invades all your bodily systems, and is related to SYPHILIS.  It gets in your brain, your eyes, your blood, your heart, messes with your endocrine system, makes your joints hurt and your brain swell.

Don't wait.

Like I said, you may or may not see the tick -- after it gets its fill of blood, it drops off.  And the tick is so little, many of us never see it.

The really important thing is *not* to have reassuring conversations with yourself that (1) your rash doesn't look like the photos online; (2) you never saw a tick; (3) you feel fine and have no symptoms; etc.  All the while, IF you were infected, the infection is spreading in your body and is very difficult to get rid of.  Many of us have been sick for years and are still struggling with it.

Not everyone feels terrible when they get bitten.  Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.  Anything that could be Lyme should be gotten to a doctor and a short course of antibiotics given.  What do you gain by talking yourself out of that?  Nobody wants Lyme, but you don't know that you are not infected -- you just WANT not to be infected.  Why take the chance?  It's like Russian roulette with five bullets in the gun.  The odds are against you.

It's a rough depiction of a bullseye, and the red ring tends to spread out, leaving normal looking skin between the bite in the center and the spreading red ring.  You may or may not see a tiny tick at the center of the bite; they are the size of the period at the end of a sentence, and may fall off after they have bitten you, but without you noticing.  Here are some photos:  www [dot] lymenet [dot] org / picture4 [dot] shtml

If the bot here blocks that URL, just search "bullseye rash image" and you'll find plenty of data.  Because of the risk of getting Lyme, which can be very difficult to get rid of, I recommend that you NOT wait and watch the rash, because every day you wait makes it harder to achieve a cure.  Lyme is a nasty disease, and nipping it in the bud is the best course of action.  A couple of weeks of antibiotics usually are enough early on, but after that, treatment is long and complicated and may be unsuccessful.

My best advice is:  Don't delay seeing an MD.  Only about half of us with Lyme ever saw the tick or got the rash, so take advantage of your 'good luck' and get treated fast.

I agree with Ree -- don't wait:  go see a doc.  The sooner you get antibiotics, the quicker and more certain the cure and saving yourself a lot of grief.  Don't wait.  Call today.

Sounds like you may be describing a bulls-eye rash...I would have this checked out by a doctor immediately. Preferably one that is educated on Lyme Disease.
